Today sucked for a whole slew of reasons, mostly, because people decided to focus on the negatives more than usual today and make everyone else feel intense anger and panic.
Your Substack has become such a balm. I went on a blocking/unsubscribing spree on here because my trust is gone that any criticism of the Democrats is in good faith. All I’ve heard is how those 10 Dems somehow represent the whole party and not a word about the vast majority that stood with Green. It’s interesting how all this conveniently comes at a time when Trump is backtracking on tariffs and losing in court.
Oh that’s a great question. I’m not on bluesky but as far as Substack, it really has been trial and error for me. I’ll see an article or a note restacked that grabs my interest or I agree with, take a look the writer’s other posts and depending on that, I’ll subscribe. Arielle is my favorite but I also really like Scott Dworkin, The Daily with Sarah Jones, Decolonized Journalism, Heather Cox Richardson, Ahmed Baba, MeidasTouch, Robert Palmer. I make it a point to restack every article I read that showcases the wins - I’m not trying to create an echo chamber but there are so many articles detailing how the Democrats are screwing up and what they should be doing instead (even if they’re already doing it) that I just pass those by. I’m pretty liberal with the block and mute button too - if I don’t feel the criticism is in good faith, I just don’t even want it on my dash.
I don’t think I’ve had a problem with videos not working and I only use the mobile app so I’m not sure about that.
I’m new to this writer and am active on bluesky. Can you say more about how to curate followers to be sure they aren’t trying to undermine Dems? Also, how can I amplify the good stuff most effectively. I noticed reading this on my iPhone that none of the bluesky videos worked. Do I need to read via browser?
I mean the best way to help amplify is by following all the dems (I have several starter packs) and commenting, quoting, reposting and sharing what they post. If youc an, watching some of the videos as well. The more we post the further they’ll go
Great! I’ll go with your starter packs. Notifications in bluesky don’t alert me to fresh posts from people I want to respond quickly to, so it’s hit or miss for finding the things to amplify. I’ll try to focus as you just described. Thanks!
I saw a bunch of really nasty comments to posts by dems who voted for censure. Does it make sense to block those people or just ignore them? “Traitor” is pretty extreme even though I wish they’d voted against it.
Thank you! For the last eight years, I’ve spent alot of time posting about what Dems are doing and have accomplished amid the naysayers and armchair critics in my circles (many of whom are devoted NYT readers who pride themselves in being informed). It’s hard work and often annoying. (I had one such conversation with two coworkers today who complained about Dems with sweeping statements on messaging and weakness that made clear they rely on vibes and MSM to inform their opinions.) So I’m so grateful for your work bc I just literally tell everyone - including in some of the big political groups on FB - to subscribe to you if they want to know what Dems are doing. So thank you - please don’t stop!
Thank Godde for those federal judges and Viva Le France! Also, one of Muskmelon's rockets acting stupid is icing on the cake!

I’d just ignore. People are really heated, they’ll calm down
