It is currently the two-day Jewish holiday of Shavuot (it starts at sundown) and instead of celebrating we have to fear for our lives going to any event that is dubbed Jewish. Refuah Shlema to all in need of healing, a complete healing of mind body and spirit. Here is some information about the event that was targeted, and here is some info about the attack itself.
No matter how scary things are, we must continue to celebrate the wins, partial wins and total wins alike. Today I have a mix of partial and total wins, cause, they are equally as important, and I think many people forget that.
Fri May 30 - Dallas had their PRIDE flag-raising ceremony. So many cities are doing this this week, but it’s nice that the first one I saw was from Texas.
Fri May 30 - The FDA approved a new kind of COVID vaccine, however, it’s only for those who are above 65 or at greater risk. Is it a full win, no, but the fact that there is any movement in this area is kind of huge at this point. Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said:
The FDA approval of our third product, mNEXSPIKE, adds an important new tool to help protect people at high risk of severe disease from Covid-19. Covid-19 remains a serious public health threat, with more than 47,000 Americans dying from the virus last year alone.
Sat June 1 - AB Hernandez, a trans woman, won gold at the CA high school track and field championships called CIF. She had to share the win, but she still won. See, when it became clear that she was going to be competing, CIF changed the rules that if a trans woman medaled, the next best cis woman would share that medal with her. But the other win is that her mom went from being a DT supporter to her biggest supporter. Proof that people can change and ignorance is not permanent.
And those are some of today’s wins! I hope they help you fight harder. Let’s make this pride month powerful!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
I am especially grateful for the change of heart from the parent for her child. That gives me hope that kindness, sanity and love will win. May that come soon.
Where is Trump decrying this terrorist act like he's going after colleges and "antisemitism" - seems like he only cares when he can throw a temper tantrum?
