In response to call for general strike I too am leery of going down that road, too early to consider. I read in The Ink newsletter of Saturday, and came across the following, which is interesting and on point, also concern about shutting down centralized command structures, bottom line we have much more work to do and we will see the results, soon:
“Be bold
Who will lead this? All of us — the people and organizations that have made the choice to challenge the billionaires and tech overlords. During times of intense repression we need to look at decentralized and distributed organizing built in local communities from the ground up. Centralized command structures are too cumbersome to meet this moment and are too easily shut down during times of repression. [In These Times]”
I read your emails right before I do my crosswords and Wordle and go to sleep. You are a light in the darkness and are helping me be able to sleep at night. Hope is a beautiful thing and it’s nice to have a little bit before bedtime! So thank you!!!!
I used to live in Rep Hayes district back when she first ran. She wasn't just a teacher. She won Teacher of the Year back in 2016. She is one of the best teachers that city ever had. I have no doubt she's going to do everything she can to protect education
oh I love that! I always feel bad when I don’t tell the whole story, but I have to remember it’s impossible to know everything immediately. Thank you so much for sharing that info!
Great point about strikes! People seem to think they can make a graphic, put it on Insta and look! Strike! Really interested to see where this goes now that Rep. McGovern has said this.
