You never expect the Spanish Inquisition. That’s a phrase my dad has used my whole life that feels pretty apt for today. It’s Friday so everything happened all at once. And one of the biggest things involved three of our Dems.
Here is that story and more!
But first, it’s the very last day of….
Repping the Rep: Julia Brownley (CA-26)
She joined First 5 Ventura to read to kids and raise awareness for early literacy development.

Reps Rob Menendez (NJ-08), LaMonica McIver (NJ-10), Bonnie Watson-Coleman (NJ-12)
Went to Delaney Hall, one of ICE’s new facilities to conduct an oversight visit. They were waiting for over 90min and the mayor of Newark Ras Baraka came by because he still hasn’t been given an oversight visit. ICE demanded he leave the property, which he did and then he was invited back on the property to speak with the agents who, after talking to someone on the phone promptly arrested him.
The arrest was violent. All three members of Congress were pushed and shoved by ICE agents, and keep in mind that rep Watson Coleman is 80 years old. As they were trying to arrest him rep McIver and rep. Watson Coleman were holding on to Mayor Baraka trying to protect him from the agents.
Following the arrest, the three members of Congress held a press conference outside the facility and we’re finally let in to conduct the oversight visit they came for in the first place.
Following this, they found out where mayor Baraka was being held, the ICE field office, and headed over there and held another press conference demanding he be released well at that facility.
They stayed there until Mayor Baraka was finally released around 7:30 PM. When he spoke in a gaggle outside the facility.
Huge massive thank you to Rep Watson Coleman and her team for keeping us informed with these lives throughout the day, there was a lot of misinformation, and this was not picked up as quickly as it should’ve been, but she made it really easy to make sure I was posting the truth.

Gave a platform to a constituent, whose parents had lived here for over 30 years and we were deported for absolutely no reason. We need to lift up as many of these stories as possible.

I’m not gonna apologize for how long this is because I had to tell the whole story about what’s happening in Newark.
If you made it to the end comment with🗳️ (vote) because Baraka is running for governor in the NJ primary that ends in four weeks.
If you watched or read at least one of the links comment 💐 (flowers) because this Mother’s Day instead of flowers give the gift of demanding your rep does not support the Republican budget.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
