It’s happened. I forgot to look at the date before posting one of these stories and it turns out it’s from almost a month ago. I mean, I just learned about it today, so it’s new to me, but it’s not exactly new. Oops. Hope you enjoy learning about it regardless.
Today Georgia Governor, Brian Kemp, announced he will not be running for Senate in 2026. This is a huge blow for the Republicans, this was kinda his election to lose. Now that he’s taken his name out of the running this lets Sen Jon Ossoff’s team breathe a bit of a sigh of relief. I have no doubt they are going to kill it no matter who is chosen by the Republicans to be his opponent. Especially if they do something like choose MTG.
Today New York Attorney General, Latitia James led 19 Dem AG in suing admin for attempting to dismantle the HHS. In a statement James said:
This administration is not streamlining the federal government; they are sabotaging it and all of us. When you fire the scientists who research infectious diseases, silence the doctors who care for pregnant patients, and shut down the programs that help firefighters and miners breathe or children thrive, you are not making America healthy – you are putting countless lives at risk.
I love our Dem AG so much!
And this is the one I kinda screwed up on. On April 7, Nintendo America’s president, Doug Bowser (yes that is his real name) told Brazilian publication Folha De S. Paulo that they have no intention of getting rid of their diversity. He said:
We always want to attract the best talent we can and retain that talent. We also believe it’s important for that talent to be diverse in terms of their backgrounds, their experiences, and their understandings because our players are diverse. So we strive to have diversity that reflects our players in our organization. This is something that’s been in place for years, before people really started using the acronym DEI [diversity, equity, and inclusion]. And that will continue to be in place. It’s important to us.
Now, that’s what we like to see, even when we see it a month late…
Don’t for a second think that I chose something from a month ago because there was nothing else to post. There were so many wins today. So, please add some I didn’t mention in the comments. I mean, at least one person has to mention North Carolina….
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/federal-judge-says-results-north-carolina-court-race-democrat-ahead-mu-rcna205013 This is from NBC news. A North Carolina Federal Judge ordered the Board of Elections to certify the victory and basically told the opponent "Mate you lost, concede already."
I'd heard about the Nintendo president's insistence at keeping diversity and (of course) applaud it. I'm just so puzzled that more companies haven't followed his reasoning that diversity is a strength because it's a logical argument. I don't need to preach to the choir as to why but instead am pointing out that this viewpoint just makes sense. Are company presidents that easily intimidated that they'll ignore the rules of the market in favor of kowtowing to a moron?
