I know today had some real losses, but one reason I post this series is because it is so important for us to come at this fight from a place of hope rather than pure panic. They want us to panic, that’s how they win, so let’s add some hope in there, shall we?
WSJ is becoming one of the more reputable publications, they’re posting more facts than some supposedly left wing publications these days. Their newest article, not opinion piece, article, is titled: “The Stark Math on the GOP Tax Plan: It Doesn’t Cut the Deficit” and…this is the link to the actual article, cause, as far as I can tell, it’s not even behind a paywall. (but if that changes, let me know and I’ll create an archive link)
Sesame Street has been saved! Netflix has bought world wide distribution rights. This does not mean Netflix has bought the show, in fact, it’s a way better deal than what they had with HBO MAX, which, as VOX put it, back in 2016, was “a violation of their founding principal.” With the HBO deal, it didn’t air on PBS till MONTHS later, but with this new Netflix deal? Well, this is straight from the Sesame Workshop press release:
These new episodes of the iconic series will be available same day-and-date in the US on PBS stations and PBS KIDS digital platforms, bringing critical early learning to children throughout the country for free.
And
NAACP Award nominee Halcyon Person (Karma’s World, Dee & Friends in Oz) joins as head writer.
Honestly, this pretty much puts Netflix back in my good graces. I mean they’re giving Sesame Workshop a better deal more in line with their values, that deal elevates PBS in a way that’s really needed right now, and they’re making sure people of color are at the forefront.
Our favorite Obama appointee, Judge Beryl Howell is at it again. This time completely eviscerating DT and his assumption that he has any power whatsoever to dismantle the US Institute of Peace. She ends the 102 page opinion saying:
The President’s efforts here to take over an organization outside of those bounds, contrary to statute established by Congress and by acts of force and threat using local and federal law enforcement officers, represented a gross usurpation of power and a way of conducting government affairs that unnecessarily traumatized the committed leadership and employees of USIP, who deserved better.
Well, that’s clear.
So I hope, as I said at the beginning this helps you fight from a place of hope, courage, joy and strength. The goal isn’t to make us less fearful, it’s to change which emotion has the power. We just can’t fight as well from a place of panic.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Thank you. I confess I just told my husband it feels like the bullies are winning on the playground. I look forward to your WINS every night.
Excellent news! So very happy that Netflix has saved Sesame Street!Yes!!!
