There were an awful lot of wins today, but as always, I will be focusing on 3 of them. Please include others in the comments!
Utah State Senator Dan Thatcher has been a Republican since he joined in State Senate, but recently he has not been welcome. He lost his leadership and was removed from committees when this session started because he didn’t always vote with the Republicans. So, today he announced he’s leaving the party. Sadly, he’s not becoming a Dem, but he is now a member of the Foward Party.
I don’t love the Forward Party, nor do I love any elected changing their party affiliation after being elected, but, at least, for once, it’s in our general direction, and this is a big deal in the world of Utah politics.
The Montana House voted against advancing a bill that would have let parents sue drag performers for harming their children. The House is 58-42 with a Republican majority, and the bill failed by 55-44. That means 13 Republicans voted with the Dems against this outrageous bill.
And this isn’t the first time that a handful of Republicans have voted with Dems to kill a gross bill this session. The State Senate killed a bill that would have put the 10 Commandments in all public school classrooms last month.
James Dennehy was the head of the NYC FBI office until he was forced to retire by the admin. As he was leaving the building today, most if not all of the employees cheered him out the door in an incredible display. You can read his resignation letter here.
But as I leave today, I have an immense feeling of pride - to have represented an office of professionals who will always do the right thing for the right reasons; who will always seek the truth while upholding the rule of law; who will always follow the facts no matter where they lead and be unapologetic about it; who will never bend, break, falter, or quit on your integrity; who will always handle cases and evidence with an overabundance of caution and care for the innocent, the victims, and the process first; and who will always remain independent.
The Admin cannot remove every good person who believes in facts and truth in the federal government, it’s just not possible, and videos like this remind me of that.
Hope this made your day a little brighter!

Just in case you hadn’t seen the AOC short. What she says is SO important to understand about calling our reps… https://open.substack.com/pub/chopwoodcarrywaterdailyactions/p/chop-wood-carry-water-210-f0c?r=nxzi&utm_medium=ios
Ariella, you give me hope every day. Thank you!💙🇺🇸
