You’re not going to notice, but I’m noticing, so I’m going to share a bit of inside baseball of my life.
I’m posting this at least 30 minutes earlier than usual! So, personal win! Let’s see if I can keep this going for more than a day!
Here are three nonpersonal ones
Obama appointee, Judge Tanya Chutkan, yes, that one, issued a TRO against the EPA, ruling that they can’t arbitrarily terminate contracts with environmental nonprofits, and must pay the three nonprofits what they are owed.
[The EPA] vaguely reference ‘multiple ongoing investigations’ into ‘programmatic waste, fraud, and abuse and conflicts of interest’ but offer no specific information about such investigations, factual support for the decision, or an individualized explanation for each [of the nonprofits]. This is insufficient.
Jackie Robinson was one of the many Black service members who had their bios removed from the DOD website. However, due to immense backlash, his military service page has been restored. Also, shout out to ESPN for this honest reporting.
Jackie Robinson’s son, David Robinson, who runs the Jackie Robinson Foundation put out a statement before the page was restored:
We take great pride in Jackie Robinson’s service to our country as a soldier and a sports hero, an icon whose courage, talent, strength of character and dedication contributed greatly to leveling the playing field not only in professional sports but throughout society. He worked tirelessly on behalf of equal opportunities, in education, business, civic engagement, and within the justice system. A recipient of both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal, he of course is an American hero.
The Vermont Senate unanimously passed a resolution committing to protecting the trans and non-binary community in the state.
Joint resolution supporting Vermont's transgender and non-binary
community and declaring Vermont's commitment to fighting discrimination and treating all citizens with respect and dignity.
And those are today’s wins! Please don’t hesitate to add more in the comments!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Really enjoying your Substack!! There truly is a LOT of good stuff happening amidst the mountain of BS!
I want to add that Michelle Wu had a State of the City last night and it was wonderful, inspiring and a powerful message about the kind of city and country that works for the people. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/KXyYxcY7r3A?si=oDen0_fj2NuPEJJG
