I spend most of my day looking for Dems to highlight, so please share wins you see throughout the day, cause, I almost included CNN covering yesterday’s Tesla Takedowns as one of today’s three.
So please, if you come across a win, tag me wherever you see it!
Anyway, here are today’s:
The Court of Justice of the EU ruled, on Thursday, that Hungary must recognize the gender identity of a trans refugee immediately in all legal documents. This changes the precedent not just in Hungary, but across the entirety of the EU.
Equity Arc is a program for high school students of color with a passion for classical music. They were supposed to perform at the President’s Own concert with the Marine Band, where the students would get to be mentored by and perform with the band, but when DT banned DEI, the concert was canceled.
Enter 60 Minutes. They flew all the students to DC. They couldn’t be mentored by and perform with current members of the Marine Band, but it wasn’t hard to find dozens of alumni who took time off work and used their own money to work with and play with these students.
The original concert would have been seen by around 100 people. This segment will be seen by millions.
CBS is not playing games.
One of Susan Collins’ constituents wrote an op ed in the Portland Press Herald about how she is not up for this moment:
Collins has become a hollow figurehead, enabling the most destructive elements of Donald Trump’s agenda while abandoning the Mainers she swore to represent. Her recent actions — from rubber-stamping unconstitutional power grabs to greenlighting devastating cuts to health care — demand either immediate course correction or resignation.
This isn’t some celebrity, this is just a guy in Portland who wrote an op-ed, and he got 84 comments.
I know this might not sound like a win worth including, but I’ve been pushing for people to write op-eds in their local paper when their reps won’t answer the phones or have town halls or, anything really, and I feel like no one really got why. Why does it matter? Who would be reading it?
Well, I think this answers all those questions. Please write op-eds!
And those are today’s wins. Again, please share other wins in the comments! I promise these weren’t the only wins of the day, just the ones I saw!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Honestly yes, I do like the tactic of voters (and democratic politicians) writing OP-Eds, because we know that it'll be read by millions.
Thank you for posting. I look for your posts every morning first thing. They give me strength to face the day. I had a hard time finding the post this morning and I genuinely panicked a bit. Have a wonderful day.
