Today was a really heartbreaking day, so I hope these wins give you a bit of hope.
Americans for Prosperity held a rally in support of DT’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in Wichita, KS. R Rep Ron Estes (KS-04) even spoke. However, there were more people outside protesting the event than there were at the event, and their protest drowned out the event. Also, Estes left before reporters could even speak to him.
Love to see it!
Obama appointee, Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that DOGI does have to follow FOIA:
Finding that USDS is likely covered by FOIA and that the public would be irreparably harmed by an indefinite delay in unearthing the records CREW seeks, the Court will order USDS to process CREW’s request on an expedited timetable and, after receiving proposals on a production schedule, to begin producing documents on a rolling basis as soon as practicable.
FOIA stands for Freedom of Information Act, and DOGI is not immune to this, meaning when asked to release records, they must comply.
Jamie Raskin has been talking about FOIA for a few weeks now and a class action lawsuit that we all may be able to file. This ruling certainly helps with that impending class action.
Finally, none of us like Rep Thomas Massie (KY-04), but, I certainly like his tactics. He was the one Republican to vote against the CR today (he didn’t think the bill cut enough), because he won’t let DT threaten him. He can try to primary him all he wants. I wish more Republicans had this kind of backbone, but at least we’ve got one.
So I hope this helps make your day a little brighter. Every day we have wins, promise!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Sorry but i have not been in the loop what was heartbreaking today? Also Massie's popularity just supercharged for being defiant! Hope this starts a trend.
Agreed on Massie. No hero and still deplorable (Remember his Christmas card where the entire family stood in front of their tree with guns?), but someone he seems to be the lone Republican with the hint of a backbone. Wondering if he is planning a run for either governor, or the open senate seat.
