Today I actually had two massive personal wins, but I can’t talk about them quite yet, I promise you’ll know the second I can.
Anyway, here are three of today’s wins!
Today - The American Bar Association has filed a lawsuit against the entire administration (the list takes up 8 pages of the lawsuit) to stop DT from threatening lawyers and law firms he doesn’t like. After going through the entire history of the ABA, the lawsuit says:
On behalf of itself and its members, the ABA asks the Court to declare this Law Firm Intimidation Policy unconstitutional and enjoin all the named Defendants from implementing and enforcing this Policy against the ABA or any of its members in the future.
Which is why every single member of the administration is named in the suit.
William R Bay, ABA president said:
This is the time to stand up, speak out and seek relief from our courts. There has never been a more urgent time for the ABA to defend its members, our profession and the rule of law itself
Can’t wait to see what happens going forward!
Today - Taylor Lorenz put out a piece in User Mag about ICE protests that are taking place in one of the most unlikely places, on Roblox. Unfortunately certain kids are playing as ICE agents and kidnapping other players, but, they’re met with protesters just like in real life.
She interviewed the 17 year old who organized the protest. He said he wanted to go to one in real life, but his sister said no, so he did this instead:
A lot of young people really want to protest and put their words adn beliefs out there but are unable to, so this is the only thing we can turn to.
It makes me think we had somewhere between 5-11 million people protesting in person on Saturday, then another massive number who participated by driving around and honking, and other massive number who participated online, but how many kids just wanted to but were told it was too dangerous? How many would have jumped at the chance to go to these Roblox protests but didn’t even know they were happening? As disgusting as it is that there are kids pretending to be ICE for fun, it’s so inspiring that there are also kids fighting those characters, even when it’s just in a game.
As you can see, the article is behind a paywall, but Lorenz also screenshot the whole thing on her IG.
Sun June 15 - Portland Mayor, Keith Wilson, released a statement supporting the No Kings protest and making it very clear that if the National Guard or Marines are deployed, he will sue.
Portland has not requested and does not require the intervention of the National Guard. Deploying military troops to the heart of an American city, as the administration has in Los Angeles, is an unwarranted, unprecedented, and unconstitutional action. If we witness federal abuse following this incident or any other pretext, we will bring it to light, take legal action, and take the fight to federal courts, where we will prevail.
What a nice thing to read from a mayor that has been in office less than 6 months. And as a former resident of Portland, I feel very proud.
So those are three of today’s wins. I hope they made your day better and helped give you hope to keep taking action and making a difference!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
As another former Portland OR resident, I too applaud its mayor!
Thank you for amplifying the wins. Looking forward to hearing your personal wins. Thank you sharing your energy and voice. Cheers.
