I just had a truly horrifying situation where a very very far left post ended up on my Threads FYP and I made the grave mistake of interacting. So my heart is still racing from what they were implying about No Kings on Saturday and it just furthered my resolve to make sure all the protests are as big as humanly possible. And remember, there are so many events planned, it’s very likely there is one or more within 30 minutes of your house.
You don’t have to go to the biggest one nearby or otherwise. And even if one isn’t planned, just grab some friends and go to your local government building (city call, post office etc) And if you can’t go, that’s fine too, help us amplify the events on social media, ESPECIALLY amplifying the media, local and national that cover the protests.
Okay, I’ve calmed down a bit, here are three of today’s wins!
Fri May 30 - Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed “Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act” into law. It will increase the paid parental leave for parents with a child in NICU by 12 weeks.
It’s really important to see wins like this because while Gov Polis leaves a whole lot to be desired with many of his choices, he still signs bills into law like this one. There is never a point where not voting and risking the Republican winning the election is better than an often feckless Dem.
Mon June 9 - The Montana Supreme Court ruled 6-1 that three anti-abortion laws are unconstitutional. These are HB-136, a 20 week restriction, HB 171 which bared mailing a medication abortion, and HB 140 which required the abortion provider to ask if the pregnant person wanted to see an ultrasound first.
Today - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk asked for a vote of confidence because, the conservatives, backed by DT, won the presidency again and he wanted to start fresh.
I am asking for a vote of confidence with full conviction that we have a mandate to govern, to take full responsibility for what is happening in Poland
The vote was 243-210 in favor of Tusk and his government. So while yes, it is a blow that Karol Nawrocki won the presidency, and the conservatives continue to be able to thwart Tusk’s agenda, he still had the support of more than a simple majority of the governing body.
So those are just some of today’s wins. I hope you’re looking for them too.
As always, our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Simply follow yourself Ariella as we do or the likes of Robert Hubbell or Scott Dworkin, and all will be well again!
And when you wake you can read this post I initially compiled as a comment to accompany Robert's missive today:

After actions to speak out at the NC General Assembly pack the Gallery for SB50, the conceal carry bill, that ended up passing the House chamber, concerned citizens joined together as the evening went forward.
A group of citizens is seen here in what was a live event on El Pueblo's Facebook page:
