People have been really cruel today. If you think anyone deserves what is happening in Texas, you fundamentally don’t understand what it means to be a Democrat.
Hopefully, this post gives you a little boost of faith in humanity.
Here are three of today’s wins!
Thurs, July 3 - Procedural abortions can resume in Kansas City Missouri after a ruling by Jackson County Circuit Court Judge, Jerri Zhang. The ruling isn’t all good news, while this does resume procedural abortions, there are still restrictions on medication abortion, but any abortion being legal is a huge win. This means Planned Parenthood can start providing them again. Republicans have been doing everything within and without their power to get abortions banned again in the state after voters approved a measure to lift the ban back in November. And in 2026 it’s back on the ballot again. Maybe this time, lawmakers will listen when the voters inevitably say they want legal abortions in MO.
Fri, July 4 - AFL-CIO treasury secretary, Fred Redmond, announced on America’s Workforce Union Podcast that they are starting the “Reclaim Labor Day” bus tour this week. The bus tour will travel across the country and will end with 50 simultaneous events on Labor Day, Monday Sept 1, 2025.
Fri, July 4 - Nashville Republican Mark Green (TN-07) has officially resigned from Congress. He filmed the video on July 4, but it went live today. He said he would resign becasue he got a job in the private sector (whatever that means) when the Big Ugly Bill passed, and he couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
So the new total in Congress, for now, is 212-219. Once all the Dem seats left vacant cause of deaths are filled, it will be 215-219, but if we took his seat, we’d be looking at 216-219. Green has held the seat since 2018 when incumbent Marsha Blackburn ran for Senate. The seat has been safety Republican, but, as we’ve seen all over the place, a 21.5% margin isn’t necessarily safe for Repbulicans right now. Hopefully we get a really great candidate and can take the seat.
So those are three of today’s wins. I hope they helped remind you that there are good things happening and even as things get worse, they are also always getting better too.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
