Three Wins Today (Jan 29 & 30 2025)
Oops....
I thought it would be a lot longer before I forgot to post a day, I guess these past 11 days have felt like a year, so I’ll give myself a pass. Anyway, good news, you get two for the price of one!
Here are yesterday’s three wins.
1. Former NJ senator Bob Menendez has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for corruption. Nice to see that happening to someone.
2. AZ Gov Katie Hobbs has nominated Judge Elena Cruz to fill a vacancy on the AZ Supreme Court. She will be the first Latina and first Black Justice on this court. Which, given that it’s AZ is really sad, but I’m very glad it’s happening now.
3.AFSCME and AFGE unions collectively represent over 2 million government workers. They are suing the Admin over schedule F, the executive order to replace public servants with loyalists.
Now for, today, actually today, Jan 30
WA State Superintendent Chris Reykdal said in a press release today
If the Trump Administration restricts our state’s ability to access our federal funds because we refuse to step on the civil rights of our students and we refuse to send public funds to private, unaccountable institutions, then my office will be relentless about preserving our federal funds in support of our own constituents, and I hope our congressional delegation will join me.
The US might not be giving more money to Ukraine, but Sweden just announced a $1.2b aid package
Bill Clinton appointed district court judge, George O’Toole issued a temporary restraining order, blocking trans inmate Maria Moe from being moved to a male facility. She filed the lawsuit on Sunday, so if anyone is panicking about certain lawsuits not being temporarily blocked yet, please know, it can and probably will still happen.
