I have a headache, so I’m not doing a long intro today, but the wins speak for themselves anyway.
Starting with one of my favorites, which you probably haven’t heard of at all, unless you follow me elsewhere
Oklahoma State Senator Dusty Deevers introduced a bill that would have forced parents and guardians to pay out of pocket for, and provide, support for their children with disabilities. It was SO unpopular, and got so much pushback from parents that he pulled the bill.
It’s the second reminder in two days that federal Republicans might not have gotten the memo yet, but state Republicans are learning fast that they are not all powerful.
Employees and the Department of Labor were actually two steps ahead of President Musk. The protest happened yesterday just as he and his freshman 15 (credit to Rachel Maddow) were trying to enter, so they didn’t. And on top of the protest, the government workers unions filed a lawsuit to keep him out. An injunction was issued today until tomorrow when a hearing will decide if President Musk can legally take over. Union Strong!
The same Reagan judge who initially issued a temporary restraining order against the executive order to ban birthright citizenship, issued a much more permanent restraining order today, in fact, it is now blocked indefinitely.
Judge Coughenour said:
It has become ever more apparent that, to our president, the rule of law is but an impediment to his policy goals. The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate around or simply ignore, whether that be for political or personal gain. Nevertheless, in this courtroom and under my watch, the rule of law is a bright beacon which I intend to follow.
And those are your three wins today. Always remember, no matter how dark it gets, there will be some wins every day and we need to celebrate those.
Your voice is your superpower, but only when you use it!
