Take a deep breath in.
.
.
.
And out.
Today sucked, but, guess what, even today, there were still wins, and we MUST celebrate them.
Three Dem AG Dan Rayfield (OR), Kris Mayes (AZ), and Raul Torrez (NM) are going to start holding community impact hearings. To hear first hand accounts of how the federal firings and funding freezes are effecting citizens. The first one will be March 5 in Phoenix, and you can RSVP now!
AK’s state legislative leaders, Senate President, Gary Stevens (R) and Bryce Edgmon (I) wrote a letter to the state’s US electeds, Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, and rep Begich. They are demanding they help restore the checks and balances.
They ended their letter by saying:
We therefore call upon you to bring a reasoned approach to the unprecedented fiscal initiatives and policies that are being peppered on Alaskans with rapid fire precision by the federal government. The time to sound the alarm is over. It is time to act. Please reach across the aisle and restore the checks and balances that our founding fathers envisioned.
Federally elected Republicans may not have much of a spine, but at state level, they aren’t nearly as spineless.
Representative Don Bacon (R-NE) and Senator John Curtis (R-UT) denounced what happened in the Oval Office today and expressed support for Ukraine.
John Curtis posted one really strong message
And Don Bacon posted several messages himself
and reposted a bunch as well,
doubling down throughout the day
Bonus: Zelenskyy 🇺🇦🌻. That’s it, just Zelenskyy existing today and spreading the message of democracy and fighting with all he has to save his country.
So don’t give up.
And one more thing:
Each horrific event gets more people to mobilize. There are people who were sitting on the sidelines until this afternoon and they will no longer be sitting on the sidelines.
We are stronger than we were yesterday.
Before you catastrophize, remember this.
Slava Ukraini
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
I really feel like POE's track "Six Deep Breaths" is pretty much where we all are after today.
