By the time I get to this point, I’m always too exhausted to think of an intro. Oh well, I hope the wins speak for themselves.

In the two-party system you form a coalition before the election, but in the parliamentary system it’s after. The far right party in Austria won the election back in September, meaning they got the most votes, but not enough to govern. They tried creating a coalition with the Nazi party, but they couldn’t quite make it happen, so today, almost 6 months later, the three other parties joined together to create a governing coalition leaving the far right party, who won the election in the first place, without power. I have had the opportunity to visit with many Ukrainians who fled Russia’s unprovoked war who have found safety and community in Alaska. These families—and the Alaskans and Alaskan businesses who have supported and employed them—have expressed their strong desire to remain and work here. Granting temporary guest status for Ukrainians already in the United States achieves this goal. As the war enters its fourth year, we must continue to provide the Ukrainians who have taken refuge in the U.S. a safe haven to weather the storm.

So I know today sucked, a lot, but even today there were some wins, huge ones at that!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
The Austria news is especially instructive. See, fash is far from a monolith. There are any number of factions that are at odds with each other, sometimes viciously so (see the KKK and American Nazis; thank you, Opinionated Ogre, for that example).
As long as we can keep them from truly teaming up and tear apart their existing alliances? Well, that's our chance.
