Three Wins Today Feb 21, 2025
I almost didn’t post, sorry about that.
On Monday Chicago’s St. Sabina church will fly the American Flag upside down, which is the universal signal of distress. Father Michael Pfleger said in a press release:
While Medicare is at risk, thousands of government workers are being fired, the Department of Education is being eradicated, African, Haitian, Venezuelan, and Mexican individuals are being identified as criminals and scooped up like animals to be deported, a billionaire citizen has been given total access to U.S. citizens private information, an ethnic cleansing is being called for in Gaza, and countless other programs and individuals lives are at risk, America is in distress and in a State of Emergency. We will raise the flag upside down as a symbol of it and call others to do the same.
After two court decisions giving a temporary restraining order to DT’s executive orders banning trans healthcare, and CA AG Rob Bonta’s promise to protect hospitals that continue to provide trans healthcare, LA Children’s Hospital announced it was resuming beginning hormone therapy for new trans youth patients. (I’m sure the protests helped too.)
The Admin has rescinded the stop work order for attorneys working with unaccompanied immigrant children. I word it like this because I’m not sure it’s a full win as rescinding the order is not exactly the same as letting them get back to work in this strange time we’re in. That said, the order lasted a whole three days. This is why it’s important for us to push back against EVERYTHING. You never know which announcement they will reverse if they get enough shit for it.
