The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled against a Republican attempt to get rid of alternate voting facilities like mobile polls, something I didn’t know even existed, but it so cool! This is why electing Susan Crawford to the bench is so important. We have a one-seat majority now, but that will go away if she loses this April 1 election.
Gov Katie Hobbs vetoed a bill that would have made voting by mail in Arizona exponentially harder.
The Republican legislature tried to argue that it takes so long to count the votes because people who turn in their absentee ballots on Election Day are counted last. As if the speed of ballots being counted matters more than the accessibility of voting. They also tried to require those who want absentee ballots to reapply every single year.
Oregon District 2 Indivisible perfectly showed the kind of creativity you can use to get your elected’s attention. They created “Cliff Notes” a cardboard cut out of their Rep, Clif Bentz covered in Post-it notes. It’s the perfect way to shame him. I hope they got media coverage for it, cause that is an important piece of any activism effort. But if not I’m glad I could highlight it for them.
When I say “don’t just call, be creative,” I mean it.
