Three Wins Today Feb 10, 2025
There were so many wins today it was impossible to keep up, but here are three of them!
Obama appointed Judge John McConnell wrote a new order demanding the Admin must comply with the earlier order to end the funding freeze that should have never started in the first place because of the initial order. It reads in part:
[It is a] basic proposition that all orders and judgments of courts must be complied with promptly. * * * Persons who make private determinations of the law and refuse to obey an order generally risk criminal contempt even if the order is ultimately ruled incorrect.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what criminal contempt means….
The third judge, this time a Bush appointee, Judge Joseph Laplante has now blocked the Admin’s attempt to end Birthright citizenship indefinitely. At this point. The order is about 1 page and no frills, just flatly granting a preliminary injunction.
And finally, because it’s important to know about state level wins, here’s one from GA. Republicans tried to overturn a State House election because the 58 ballots were given to the wrong district in an election that was only won by 48 votes. The judge ruled that nothing proves that those 58 people even voted in the state House race therefore the election stands. It’s amazing, the election was over 3 months ago and Republicans are still trying to overturn various elections all over the country.
Always remember, every day there are wins. Don’t let the losses convince you differently.
