It’s early! It’s a whole two hours earlier than I normally post this, which is very exciting!
Also someone told me they liked it better when I make this really quick instead of going into detail, so comment on what you prefer? Would you rather the wins were just a couple sentences, or do you like when I share quotes and facts about the wins?
We made so much noise and didn’t shut up, and now the Admin has reversed their decision to terminate foreign student visas. This doesn’t mean those who have been already abducted will be released, but it does mean more college students will hopefully not be going through that. We have a long long way to go, but if this isn’t proof that our voices are our superpower, I don't know what is.
Do you remember last week when Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs said that she would veto every single bill until Republicans included funding for disability services in the funding bill? Well, thanks to her ultimatum and the tireless work of the disability community that just kept showing up and making sure Republicans weren’t taking their funding way in the dark, the funding bill was bipartisan and DID include funding for disability services! It has now been signed by Gov Hobbs!
After the SAVE Act House vote, Ezra Levin said at the end of that “What’s the Plan” Indivisible weekly zoom that the best way we can make sure no Dem Senator votes for the bill is by showing how angry we are at the ones who did.
They have to know that they can’t do it in secret and we will fight back if they do the wrong thing, and WA-03 showed just that!
Rep Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, one of the 4 Dems who voted for the bill in the House held a town hall today, and to say it did not go well for her would be an understatement. This is what we need to see!
It’s funny that I said “it’s early” it was when I started this, but then I got entirely distracted. It turns out I do have access to my ariella.elm IG, through Meta Business Suite, still no access to that Threads account though (you can find me on demsdoingthework for now)
Anyway, this is just more proof that our voices are our superpower, but ONLY when we use them!
Today’s length was fine. I want enough detail that if I want I can search for more. So, more detail on anything not widely reported, less on stuff readily found elsewhere
I appreciate whatever you have time and inclination to put out here. ((And Judge Dugan was released on Friday after a brief court appearance! Some NOISE was made! (Even in Troy, NY the local Indivisible group showed up :-))
