I know today wasn’t as spectacular as yesterday, but that doesn’t mean that we didn’t have wins or that we shouldn’t spread and celebrate them. Every day cannot be as invigorating as yesterday, but hopefully it’s a fairly frequent occurrence.
Here are today’s wins:
Four Republican Senators, Rand Paul (KY), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Susan Collins (ME) and Mitch McConnell (KY) voted with all Dems on a resolution which would end DT‘s national emergency that allows him to impose tariffs on Canada. Unfortunately, it won’t pass the House, but, it sends a very strong statement. These four are making their feelings known, and that’s more than just a small crack.
Democratic AGs filed their 12th lawsuit against the admin today, this time, against the DHHS and the canceled funding.
In the lawsuit they state:
Beginning on March 24, 2025, HHS abruptly, with no advance notice or warning, changed its position and terminated $11 billion in critical public health funds. The notices of termination arrived in grant portals and e-mail inboxes, often late at night. Some staff of Plaintiff States’ health agencies did not receive these notices until they came to work on March 25.
I suspect this will go as badly for the admin as the other 11.
You might remember Equity Arc from the 60 mintues segment a few weeks ago.
They got significantly more attention than they ever would have if DT hadn’t canceled the concert, and that now includes from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. On Sunday night they will be playing with them in a free concert. If you live in Chicago, you should definitely get tickets before they’re sold out!

Gotta be the band story Ariella...standing disappointment upside down on its head and emerging with a moral victory that's inspiring...
I think the 4 republican senators vote was a big deal and I was heartened to think they, and maybe others, will be more deliberative in their votes, and do what’s best for the people. I applaud their courage in this moment. Bipartisan support for or against action voting with the Dems is not DOA, with every vote.
