Whether you went to a protest today or you didn’t, I hope seeing all the people supporting each other with the common cause of ending this shit made your day a little better. And here are some other things to help too.
Remember Teresa Borrenpohl, the brave women who stood up and spoke out at the Coeur D’Alene Republican town hall and was abused by the private security guards as a result? Well, the private security guards have now officially been charged.
From Coeur D’Alene Post:
Paul Trouette, Russell Dunne, Christofer Berg and Jesse Jones, all of whom are associated with the security firm Lear Asset Management, are charged with the misdemeanor crimes of battery and false imprisonment. The five men and Alex Trouette were also cited for security agent uniform violations and security agent duties violations.
Post Falls resident Michael Keller is also charged with battery, a misdemeanor.
There’s something really hopeful about seeing justice happen in Idaho.
On April 9, Harvard’s website looked like this
It’s a normal university website, nothing too special.
But on April 10, things changed
And it keeps going. The entire home page is about basically every single research project the school is currently or has recently worked on. You cannot go to this website and come away thinking anything but wow, they must have some pretty amazing federal grants.
This not only puts a spotlight on everything DT is trying to dismantle but will also result in some pretty angry parents if the funding stops existing for these projects.
I love universities that stand up!
I know I started with it, but, I have to end with it too. Alt National Park estimated 2m+ protesters, but that was 6 hours ago now, so who knows what the final number was.
It was probably less than April 5, but remember, it’s literally a holiday weekend. It’s the last two nights of Pesach for Jews, and it’s Easter weekend. This is a pretty damn good number for a religious holiday weekend.
Not to mention there were all these fears that many of the protests were going to get hijacked, and they didn’t.
There were a handful of incidents but, for the most part everything was totally smoothly, and that’s absolutely a testament to all the amazing organizers who took deescelation trainings.
So I hope these made your heart a little lighter and your day a little better.
Remember, our voices are our superpower, but ONLY when we use them!
So glad those guys in Idaho are getting charged!
The overall number may have been less than April 5, but SLC had more than last time. Many small towns had more than last time. Definitely a win.
