Hello!
I’m not very good at getting this post out, but I’m trying to do it on a more regular basis.
Yesterday was election day! And we had some wins worth celebrating! And remember, if you live in TX, or TN your municipal elections are SATURDAY, and there are also elections in LA and MA, so check to see if you have one, maybe one of your races will be in my wins next week!
If I miss a win you know about, please add it in the comments!
The biggest win is Iowa!
This isn’t a flip, it’s just a massive overperformance. She outperformed the last Dem who had a Republican challenger, back in 2022 by 12 pts, and Kamala by 27 pts. AND Ramirez is the first Latina in the IA State House! After her victory, she said:
I am so honored to be elected as the first Latina elected in the Iowa State Legislature. Progress isn’t partisan. Fully funded schools, access to healthcare, clean air and water, these are Iowa values. I believe every Iowan, no matter their zip code or background, deserves dignity, opportunity, and justice. I am looking forward to advocating for these values in the House!
In Acton MA there were two super conservative candidates, June Leslie for Selectboard and Jason Fitzgerald for School Committee (Jason wants to ban works and keep “woke” out of schools”) And they were both soundly defeated!
Leslie got 20% of the vote
Fitzgerald got 22% of the vote
In North Augusta South Carolina there will be a Dem on the the city council for the first time in recent memory! His name is Dennis Briatico. He received about 24% of the vote, but that was enough in this case!
And finally, in MN State Senate District 6, Dem Denise Slipy lost, but, she did overperform Kamala by about 6.2 pts, and the last Dem to run by about 3 pts. It’s not much, but it does continue our trend of overperforming across the board, and when that comes to looking forward to 2026, that matters a lot.
I hope these wins inspire you to check and see when your next election is, and if you want to help me with putting together my election guides so more people know about who to vote for in these more obscure races, please email me at ariella.elm@gmail.com
Your vote is your voice and that voice is your superpower!
Thank you so much for doing this!
These make me happy! Ty
