Alright, this is a big one. It’s primary day for NJ and there are a bunch of state legislative races around the country as well.
Please remember this list isn’t complete, it can’t be, there is no national database. I’ve been finding many of these races manually. That means if you don’t see your district listed, you might still have an election, so please check your county/city/town board of election website even if I don’t list anything.
Blue Voter Guide has already covered some of these races, and I will notate when that’s the case. The link will be to one of the Dem candidates for that race, but you’ll want to click back to the full list in many cases, as they may not be the only Dem.
Remember, before you just read this whole guide, search for your state or your county and if you’re reading this on email, you have to open it as a separate post, this will be too long to open in the email in full.

Tyson Starling (Incumbent, possible DEM, has a B.A., runs a local business, has helped turn the school into one of the most successful in the state, wants to focus on the budget/helping schools and families deal with rising costs, helping students socially and emotionally, and supports the school reorganization/resource combination plan as a way to pool resources and cope with rising costs but does want some changes to keep community feel and reduce commute times for students.)
Town Council - 3 year:
Earl D. Brechlin (thinks we can all politely agree to disagree about politics, author, newspaper editor, college instructor, is on the board of numerous non-profit organizations, running to address rising cost of housing, stop large businesses from buying up large parcels of land and the general gentrification of the area which is pricing out small home owners, wants to put a cap on VR2 and homesteading claims saying it is being abused),
Steven R. Boucher Jr. (wants to get people to stop fighting over politics and get them working together to improve the community, volunteers with numerous nonprofits, values diversity and the environment, wants to improve the roadways, is against the caps on VR2 claims saying there is no evidence that capping them reduces housing costs but that he respects previous votes to instate the cap, has multiple ideas for how to reduce housing costs),
Nathan W. Young (Sounds REPUBLICAN, retired Air Force, police chief, only candidate against the city providing money to nonprofits and the local library this fiscal season, running to balance the budget and stop providing money to nongovernmental agencies, wants to continue tourism and development but with some regulations, wants to reduce housing costs without a specified plan, has increased prosecutions and helped develop ordinances which increased arrests and removals from housing, wants to cut back on tourism).
Town Council - 2 year (vote for 1):
Kevin H. Knoppe (wants to cut down on seasonal housing to try to reduce housing costs, is against funding the local library and YMCA),
Randell C Sprague (Incumbent, supports the tourist industry, believes more costs should be left to small business owners, wants to increase revenue through more taxes),

Vreeland (cares about the environment, wants to address budget concerns, points out that the current town council has been spending beyond their budget for several years and making up the difference by continually increasing taxes, has researched options for low income housing and how to implement it, wants to cap the amount of money given to the library and other nonprofits to a much smaller amount and wants to consider taxing them)

David L. Kief (owns three homes but does not understand why his daughter cannot afford to buy, says he is unfamiliar or has not researched other key issues),
