It’s a pretty massive election week, if you’re in Texas, at least, it’s the municipal elections for the entire state on Saturday 5/3. This is the absolute best way you can make your state more blue. The best thing about municipal elections is there is no gerrymandering, it’s purely about the county or the city or the town limits.
And if you don’t live in TX that doesn’t mean you don’t have an election. There are also races in CA, and MA on Mon, CA, DE, FL, GA, MA, and MN on Tues, and LA, MA and of course TX on Sat.
As always, please remember that there is no such thing as a national databases for all elections, so, that means it’s inevitable that I miss some. I will be going through the states individually to hopefully catch as many as possible, but even doing that, I’ll still probably miss some. So, please check with your own county or town election website to double check that you don’t have a race this week.
And, in the coming weeks I will be working directly with Blue Voter Guide, so check their website to see if they have more info about a given race than I do.
Let’s get started!

Hopefully you know by now that LA has neighborhood council races and they are, without a doubt, one of the least publicized races in the country. Making turnout way less than 1%. These races are special, you can vote as young as 16, and you have to live there OR have a stake in the neighborhood. This means the eligible voting population for any given one of these is probably around 50k-100k, turnout is typically maybe 300. And besides not being well promoted, they also don’t use the same system as the other elections, so you have to reregister every time. MONDAY IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR THE NEIGHBORHOODS

Texas
There are municipal elections throughout most of the state. You can find your school board race here, created by Frank Strong, the founder of Texas Freedom to Read Project
I know a lot of these elections don’t seem like a big deal, but I promise they are. These races are now about life and death for so many people, even if they aren’t for you. So VOTE and make sure your voice is counted.
Your vote is your voice and that voice is your superpower!
Do you have the TX election info laid out anywhere? I would like to share it.
Yup this is true. I filled out my local absentee ballot. Though I need people who have the special skills and not well...jerks...to run for local offices, and not leave write-in spaces on the ballots.
