Imagine if all the people who attended protests in a given area also voted in every single election.
I look at the numbers from the Fighting Oligarchy tour in places that had and are having local municipal elections. We need to make voting in weekly elections as big a deal as attending rallies and protests.
We can do that, right?
This week we have elections in CA, CT, FL, KS, MA, MS and WA. It seems like a pretty light week, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an important one. And, there may very well be more elections than I have listed. There is no federal database, so it’s pretty much a given that I will miss some. That means you must check your own county board of elections or Town website to see if you have any elections I didn’t find.
And make sure to check Blue Voter Guide they focus on endorsements, so this is especially helpful during primaries and for non partisan races.
On that note, let’s begin
Mon April 21
California
Los Angeles
Neighborhood Council Region 7
Atwater Village
Echo Park
Elysian Valley Riverside
Rampart Village
Silver Lake
Los Feliz (how to vote)
If you’ve been reading the election guide every week, you know where this is going. Monday is the last day to register to vote in the neighborhood council elections that get a turnout of maybe 1%. The rules are different than other local elections. You can vote as young as 16 and you just have to be a resident or work in the district, and still the turnout is 1%. Just cause you’re registered for other elections does not mean you are for this one, blame LA city for that decision. You register here.

School Board only has 3 candidates running for 3 seats, and one of them is MAGA. His name is Nick Schleicher. He will win, by default, but, you don’t have to vote for him.
“He ran an anti-mask parents' group during Covid (I don't recall the name of it, something about stop the mandates), ran for School Committee on "Children First", and then campaigned against the Prop 2 1/2 override (I'm the one in the purple tights there...), which lost. That resulted in the schools having to lay off a couple dozen teachers and the loss of multiple programs.” - Trickycrayon on Blue Sky

Thanks for writing this post- very true, we need to get engaged in the local level! So few people vote locally, it's really a lost opportunity to make an impact.
