Not feeling great, so I’m not gonna include a whole lot of detail, but I wanted to make sure to get these stories out anyway.
Here are some of today’s fighters
Repping the Rep: Grace Meng (NY-06)
Is a member of the Progressive Caucus and I hope you enjoy learning about her throughout the week. This past week she managed to get funding, restored to the Manufacturing Extension Partnership after sounding the alarm on the funding freeze two weeks ago.
Rep Maxine Dexter (OR-03)
Is headed to El Salvador according to this press release, she posted on her website last night. I assume we will hear more on Monday but maybe even later today
Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03) announced that she will travel to El Salvador to demand the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Mr. Abrego Garcia, a legal U.S. resident, was wrongfully deported to El Salvador—a fact the Trump Administration has acknowledged. He is now being held in a foreign prison, despite a clear, unanimous ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that the federal government must facilitate his return to the U.S.
Rep Sydney Kamlager Dove (CA-37)
Spoke at a Stay In LA rally. One of LA’s biggest economies is the film industry, and it is in deep trouble. I also didn’t know the personal connection she has to the industry making this, not just about her constituents, but about her family as well.
Sen Richard Blumenthal (CT)
Sent a letter to the admin demanding to know why international student visas are being revoked, and he followed that up joining the new Haven mayor at City Hall and joined a protest at University of Connecticut
Sen Chuck Schumer (NY)
Met with LGBTQIA+ New York elected officials to plan out how to protect the queer community going forward.
I love this for a lot of reasons, but the biggest reason is that he acknowledged the A. And he’s one of the first elected officials I’ve seen do so.
Rep Eric Swalwell (CA-14)
Is hosting an empty chair Townhall in Kevin Kylie’s CA-03 district. It’s very cool when we hear about Democrats headed to Republican districts that have made the news specifically because they’re constituents are screaming for someone to represent them.
And then we have our protesters today. I’m sure there were more, but these are the ones that posted on their own accounts.
Rep Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10)
Rep Lori Trahan (MA-03)
Rep Kelly Morrison (MN-03)
Rep Pat Ryan (NY-18)
Sen Ed Markey (MA)
Joined some revolutionary war reenactors for their protest. It’s a strange world we live in when it’s now more of a protest than a hobby
And finally, for this list
Rep Seth Moulton (MA-06)
So those are some of today’s fighters. Always remember that my list is not remotely complete so don’t for a second think these are our only fighters.
Comment below with 🚽 (toilet) if you made it to the end of the post, cause there’s one sign that included one that I just can’t get out of my head
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
