Today is one of those days that I wish we could turn social media off and reboot it. Maybe the people on it would be just a little bit more nuanced and more respectful.
Hopefully, this post will give you a little relief.
Here are our fighters!
Repping the Rep: Ami Bera (CA-06)
is who I’m amplifying all this week! He joined Congress in 2013 and he is the former chief medical officer for Sacramento County. He is one of six Dem reps who are also doctors.
He wore his physician coat when voting no on the big ugly bill on Thursday because “I’ve seen the direct impact that lack of healthcare access has had on Sacramento residents, on American patients.”
Rep Jahana Hayes (CT-05)
Is one of 178 Democratic members of Congress, who signed onto an amicus brief in the NAACP v. US case against the dismantling of the Department of Education. The brief was lead by (MA), and Reps Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Joe Neguse (CO-02), Bobby Scott (VA-03) and Rosa Delauro (CT-03).

Rep Joe Morelle (NY-25)
Spoke with patient advocate and healthcare activist Peter Morley. In this clip, Morley brings up the stark reminder that as rural hospitals close, people may not have the ability to get to another hospital, which could, in some cases, be several hours away.

Rep Angie Craig (MN-02)
Re-introduced the “NO STOCK Resolution,” a month ago, but posted a reminder today. The resolution would require every sitting Member of Congress to immediately sell their stocks and refrain from future ownership while in office. The first time she introduced this resolution was in 2022.
Rep Sarah Elfreth (MD-03)
Explains why she is one of the founding members of the Lowering Costs Caucus. “I’m the daughter of a train driver, I’m a millennial with student loan debt, I’m a renter looking like so many Americans in this country.”
The other founding members include: Reps Derek Tran (CA-45), Hillary Scholten (MI-03), (OH-01) and Maggie Goodlander (NH-02)

Rep Pramila Jayapal (WA-07)
Was on MSNBC’s The Weekend last week and she discussed the shadow hearings, or people hearing as I’ve been calling them. If you didn’t know, she has hosted two of them herself and there have been dozens hosted in the last six months.
Her full interview is below.
Below is her Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump’s Lawless Third Country Disappearances People’s hearing from a month ago.
Below is her Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump's Weaponization of Immigration Courts People’s Hearing 10 days ago.

And finally…
(CA)
Spent part of Fourth of July weekend in Monterey County California. He got a briefing from the Farm Bureau and toured various farms to better understand their needs. He will take that back to the Senate Agriculture Committee, so they’re not just hearing about the needs of the Midwest, which they have for 30 years, the last time a California Senator was on the committee.
You can watch some of his tour of the Soledad Farm below.

So those are just some of today’s fighters. Remember, even if you’re not hearing about them because they’re not crossing your feed, that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there fighting every single day.
If you made it to the end, comment 👨🏽⚕️(a male doctor) cause casting a no vote while wearing the white coat is pretty powerful.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment with what you learned and 💳 (a credit card) because while most of us are not thinking that lower cost is the most important issue right now, we need to recognize that for a lot of Americans, it is.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

This is the truth. Democrats are doing the work so stop blaming them when things go wrong.
