All of today’s stories have no attention on them whatsoever, so I hope this post helps bring attention to some of our amazing fighters.
Repping the Rep: Ami Bera (CA-06)
Reminds us that it doesn’t matter if DT tacos again or the tariffs actually going to affect, both options are hurting Americans, especially small business owners. The only thing that wouldn’t hurt Americans is ending the tarrif nonsense immediately.
DNC ( )
Posted today’s Daily Blueprint at 10am et, as they do every weekday. It was only six minutes, but it’s a super jam-packed six minutes.
30k more VA jobs will be cut by September, but Republicans are saying it’s people who are voluntarily leaving and that it’s a positive because it erases the need for layoffs.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear was on Morning Joe during Jeffries’ magic minute, and he said that rural hospitals are the largest or second-largest employer in most communities. So it’s not just about healthcare, it’s about jobs too.
Martin County, North Carolina has been keeping the utilities on in their empty hospital, which closed in 2023, because they’ve been trying to reopen it. But with these cuts to Medicaid, it seems like they’re finally gonna have to give up on that dream. It’s also the only hospital in the entire county.
That said Governor Josh Stein just signed HB 546 into law, which will strengthen Medicaid and healthcare in the state as much as possible, given that the Big Ugly Bill is now law.
Politico has a new article about how food banks are not prepared for the influx they are going to get because people are gonna be kicked off SNAP.
It’s amazing how much Hannah can fit into a mere 6 minute video. Wonder what I’ll learn tomorrow.
Rep Chellie Pingree (ME-01)
Is introducing the “Commitment to Aid Workers Act“ with Reps Jim McGovern (MA-02), Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), Madeline Dean (PA-04), Mark Pocan (WI-02) and AOC (NY-14).
Among other things, it would establish a special envoy to report threats to aid workers to Congress and investigate the tragic deaths that do happen. Amazing that that doesn’t exist yet.

Rep John Garamendi (CA-08)
Wrote an op-ed in International Policy Digest about the importance of USA ID and how gutting it will hurt our safety in the world. My favorite quote is “DT and congressional Republicans have seemingly forgotten that soft power is just as important as hard power.”

Rep Jennifer McClellan (VA-04)
Has today’s Democratic Daily Download. And it’s all about the effects of the Big Ugly Law. I know a lot of people are gonna say, “Well, I know this already, why is she saying what I know already?” First, just cause you know it doesn’t mean others do too, and second, you wanted a unified message, right?

Rep Nikema Williams (GA-05)
Led a letter, signed by 39 other Dem reps, to DT demanding that he reverse his new policy that doesn’t give federal workers time off to vote or allow them to be non-partisan poll workers. Did you know about this? Cause I certainly didn’t.
Sen Andy Kim (NJ)
Is bringing attention to the Rescission Package, which the Senate has to vote on by July 18, only 10 days from now. This includes horror shows like gutting PEPFAR and cutting federal funding for NPR and PBS among others. This is another massive fight we’re about to be in and we need to be watching it very closely.
And finally…
Rep Jimmy Gomez (CA-34)
Is demanding Republicans call a hearing ASAP into whether the cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service contributed to the deadliness of the Texas flood.
