It is the first night of Passover so forgive me for getting this out a little earlier in the day and making it a little shorter, but that doesn’t mean that our fighters are fighting any less.
Here are some of today’s fighters
Repping the Rep: Terri Sewell (AL-07)
Today begins a new week of #ReppingTheRep meet Terri Sewell she represents AL-07 and I can’t wait to introduce her to you this week.
Today, she posted about how the DOJ has terminated a wastewater settlement for Lowndes County because DT decided public health is now DEI. Despicable.
I love when reps acknowledge things happening in their districts, not just nation wide. Yes, Congress is federal, but their job is to represent the needs of their individual districts, and she’s doing exactly that.
(shout out to the amazing journalists who are making sure all posts from the Dem reps who are still without Blue Sky, there are still 27 of them, are mirrored from their Twitter accounts)
Rep Steven Cohen (TN-09)
Has introduced the “Halting All Parades for Presidents’ Yearly Birthdays; It Risks Taxpayer Harm, Damages, And Your (HAPPY BIRTHDAY) Budget Act. It took a lot to get there, but God, is the title worth it.
I’d explain what the act does, but I think the title is self-explanatory.
Reps Sydney Kamlager Dove (CA-37) is joined by Stacey Plaskett (VI)
For this week’s “Is This Sh*t Legal.” Virgin Islands, I cannot get over how incredible your Rep is. I wish I had been aware of her sooner.
Plaskett explains exactly how illegal buying Greenland would be with a full history lesson, She is the Rep of a territory and a pretty incredible lawyer, at least, according to her former teacher Rep Jamie Raskin (MD-08), so, she would know.
GA Sens Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock
Have another win against the administration. They fought for Junior enlisted service members to get a pay raise and they won. the administration, kept trying to delay it and they just kept fighting.
Ossoff said:
Young people are not going into national service and national security for the money. They’re doing it because they care about defending the United States and the American people, and they are terribly underpaid. I made it one of my highest priorities to pass a record pay raise for junior-enlisted personnel in the military, and bringing Republicans and Democrats together, we got it done.
Elizabeth Warren (MA) has the first post on the Senate Banking Committee Dems new Substack. This is the new media press release and the more of our elected officials that realize that, and the faster they do, the better.
Definitely read the post. It’s all about breaking down why working class families are struggling, and, what can be done about it. Send this to everyone you know, especially if they haven’t been paying much attention.
And finally…I don’t love everything
Sen Elissa Slotkin (MI)
Does, but I would be remiss if I didn’t praise her and celebrate her for going on Fox News and talking about how bad the SAVE Act is. I don’t know how many people actually listened to what she has to say, but I do know more people heard about the Act and what it actually does, than had before.
It’s not going to pass the Senate, I feel very confident that is DOA if and when it gets out of committee, but, it’s not all over the country. I say this every single day, pretty much. It’s already in New Hampshire and it’s probably going to be pushed in Repubican states as well, so, talking to Republicans about it, that really matters, regardless of what happens with it in the Senate.
And those are a small sampling of today’s fighters.
Remember, we are the media and it is our job to help spread what our Dems are doing.
If you made it this far, comment 🚱 (which is literally a red no circle around a faucet.) there shouldn’t have to be a “don’t drink the water“ emoji but that’s the world we live in.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Chag Sameach and Happy Passover!
