15 years ago today the ACA was signed into law. It took a lot of fighters to make that happen. So let’s make sure we are amplifying as many of our fighters as possible so that we support the incredible people trying to make our world a better place
Repping the Rep: Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10)
Was on the Reclaiming Civic Power panel with Common Wealth Club and UC Berkeley last week.
The breakdown for the panel reads:
This is a call to action for individuals of all generations to reclaim their role in shaping democracy. Together, we will uncover strategies for sustaining motivation, reclaiming civic power, and shaping a political landscape that reflects our collective values. No matter your experiences, "Reclaiming Civic Power" will motivate and empower you to stay engaged in shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.
I genuinely don’t think I could love this more.
DNC
Is holding the third National Update and Call to Action tomorrow night. This week’s is with Leader Hakeem Jeffries and hosted by Reecie Colbert.
It’s at 5pm PT tomorrow on The Democrats YouTube page, and I really hope you come if you can. Two weeks ago there were about 3k people there, which is really horrific. I mean the Dems are holding biweekly organizing calls for the first time ever, there should be hundreds of thousands present.
Rep Yassmin Ansari (AZ-03)
Gave this week’s “Weekly Democratic Address.” She spoke about how she’s going to fight for everyone and she even singled out trans people, which I think a lot of people will really appreciate.
She also discussed “Medicaid Day of Action” and how she spent her week. The video is only 3 minutes long, so please take the time to watch it.
Rep Eric Swalwell (CA-14)
Was the rising start of the House Democrats for a very long time, but it seems like a lot of people don’t know his name anymore. He held an empty chair town hall, along with former rep David Jolly in Jolly’s old Fl-13 district, currently represented by Anna Paulina Luna.
He posted a clip from the town hall where he discusses how Democrats need to be on the offensive even when, and especially when, we are in power.
And speaking of empty chair town halls…
Rep Ro Khanna (CA-17)
Is holding three of them today all over California. This morning he was in David Valadao’s Bakersfield CA-22 district.
Even though a Republican represents the district, there are many democrats there as well. One of them asked if he agrees with Bernie that progressives should run as independents. And he answered the question better than I ever could.
Sen Elizabeth Warren (MA)
Was interviewed by Marie Claire. We always talk about the importance of Democrats going into Republican spaces like Fox News, but, going into non-political lifestyle spaces is just as important.
This interview is all about the Department of Education, and it’s taking place in a publication read mostly by white moms. This could not be a more perfect location for an interview like this.
And finally…
The National Letter Carriers held HELL NO Rally all over the country. I’m sure many electeds attended, but I found five.
Rep Al Green (TX-09)
Sen Dick Durbin (IL)
Rep Madeline Dean (PA-04)
Rep Gwen Moore (WI-04)
Rep Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11)
Sen Tina Smith (MN)
So as always, please push back every time you see someone say the Democrats aren’t doing the work. They are, every single day, we just have to amplify it.
