There are so many Dems doing the work today, unfortunately, you’ve probably only heard one or two of these stories.
So please go to their posts and interact with them!
Rep Mark Pocan (WI-02)
Was one of the first to do a town hall on the very edge of his district. He didn’t directly enter Derrick Van Orden’s but he got as close as possible. But, tomorrow night, he will be in Van Orden’s district. he will be joined by seven Wisconsin organizations: Opportunity Wisconsin, Main Street Alliance, Climate Power. Protect Our Care, Working Families Power, Family Friendly Wisconsin and Committee to Protect Health Care.
The event is at Capella Performing Arts Center in La Crosse WI, and it will begin at 5pm. You and RSVP here.
Hopefully this will help those in Van Orden’s district feel represented, and maybe even get a few Republicans to realize they hitched their wagon to the wrong horse.
Rep Greg Landsman (OH-01)
Shared this absolutely chilling story of his constituent, Ben, who is an immunologist about to start his postdoctoral fellowship. Because of what’s happening with science in the US, he’s applying for positions in England and Germany. He never imagined having to apply outside the US when he started this process.
The more these scientists are forced out the US, the less safe the US will be, it’s really that simple.
I’m so glad Landsman gave Ben the platform to tell his story. It needs to be seen by everyone.
Sen Peter Welch (VT)
Did three massive things today and I have to talk about all of them.
First, he held a press conference about telehealth and his bill CONNECT for Health Act, which has bipartisan support, thank god. This would make the COVID telehealth flexibilities permantant. It was first introduced last session but has already been reintroduced. If it doesn’t become a law before the fall, telehealth will expire.
Second, he went to the Vermont detention center and met with Mohsen Mahdawi
And right now he is at a town hall with Rep Paul Tanko (NY-20) in Plattsburgh NY speaking about Medicaid and the possible cuts
Rep Greg Casar (TX-35)
Posted one of his call backs to a constituent with concerns about Social Security. One thing I love about this is that he not only says “we are gonna fight to fix it,” but he also explains how he wants to make it even better.
I’d also like to say this is the second one of these we’ve seen. He previously shared his facetime with a disabled constituent who relies on Medicaid just to have a fulfilling life.
I like this series a lot.
Rep Ro Khanna (CA-17)
Is in Tom Kean’s NJ district as we speak with his “People over Billionaires“ town hall tour. He’s done these throughout CA, but this is the first one in a different state.
You can watch the entire town hall below!
Rep Joe Neguse (CO-02)
Heard reports that DOGI had entered the NOAA and NIST facilities in Boulder CO. So, he immediately went down there to verify. Luckily, these reports seem to be untrue, but I am so glad he was in his district and could immediately see for himself.
And although these were untrue today, this means his office is definitely going to be keeping a close eye on the facilities, cause these reports could unfortunately be accurate soon.
Reps Maxine Dexter (OR-03), Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03), Maxwell Frost (FL-10) and Robert Garcia (CA-42)
are in El Salvador, as I hope you know. They are there without congressional approval, since Comer refused to let them go as an official delegation. This means the trip is on their own dime, they are essentially there as private citizens thanks to Comer’s disregard for due process.
This afternoon they held a press conference. It is absolutely worth it to watch the whole thing. Garcia talks about Andry Romero, Ansari talks about the Venesualan abductees and we also learn that the Hispanic Caucus is planning on taking a delegation down in the near future.
And yes, this is my video, I took it from Frosts’ IG reels after this live with permission.
Please make sure to follow all four of Team El Salvador, as I’m lovingly calling them. on both their government and campaign accounts, so you can stay up to date with every move they make.
And finally…
Rep Sarah McBride (DE)
Was on Pod Save America and her comparison between the hatred Democrats experience and misogyny literally blew my mind.
This is one of the best examples I’ve seen in a while of why different life experiences are so necessary in Congress. I don’t know if someone who isn’t trans could have seen this as clearly as she does.
And you can watch the entire interview below.
So that is just a very small sampling of our fighters today, and as you can see this is all major every single piece of work being done today was massive.
Comment below with 🌪️ (tornado) if you made it to the end of this post because I have a feeling that NOAA story is just the beginning
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
