I can’t believe I’ve been doing this series for 26 days. I hope it’s helped you!
As always, there were so many stories of our Democrats fighting back, so please share any others that you’ve seen throughout the day!
DNC Co-Vice Chair David Hogg
I have seen a lot of people, angry and fearful that the DNC isn’t getting involved in the Gay Valimont (running for FL-01) and Josh Weil (running for FL-06) races, well I hope this puts that to bed. Florida Dems just announced that David Hogg is going to be on their national organizing call for the special elections!
Rep Shontel Brown (OH-11)
She held a town hall yesterday. I know everyone is holding town halls and you can’t watch them all, there just aren’t enough hours in the day, but, give at least a few minutes of this one a watch, I promise, you won’t regret it. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard her give a speech before, but I can tell you I will be doing my best not to miss any of her speeches going forward. She is a strong voice we should definitely be paying attention to.
Rep Kelly Morrison (MN-03)
I really like how she posted all of the events she had during recess this week. It also gives a glimpse into what representatives are doing when they are on recess. It is, in fact, not a vacation. And now you know for the next recess that it is always possible to find multiple events that you can attend likely as a constituent.
There are only a handful of states that can have a Townhall with every federally elected official. And two of them announced today that they are doing so.
In Delaware, Rep Sarah McBride, Sen Angela Alsobrooks and Sen Chris Coons will be holding a joint virtual town hall on Monday. You can sign up here.
And in Vermont, Rep Becca Balant, Sen Peter Welch and Sen Bernie Sanders are doing the same thing on Wednesday, though theirs is by telephone.
I hope other states with a small number of representatives follow suit. Options include Rhode Island and Connecticut, though, I’m sure, there are others.
Rep Mark Pocan (WI-02)
It’s now time to talk about the great Mark Pocan. Western Wisconsin elected officials got an open invitation to the Wisconsin Farmers Union town hall. Not a single Republican showed up. The Dems included Mark, and state legislators Sen Jeff Smith, and Reps Jodie Emerson and Christian Phelps
And if you want more info, it was covered by The Wisconsin Examiner
I also wanna shout out another video of Mark’s from today where he gave his week in review
Rep Sara Jacobs (CA-50)
I want to give a shout out to Sara for attempting GetReadyWithMe where she talked about importance of Medicaid. Some people are not on IG and TikTok and have never seen a GRWM and didn’t understand it at all. But, I think the idea is great and I hope she keeps trying it, even if it didn’t go viral this time around. Cause it does resonate with the younger generation and that’s so important.
And finally
Sen Adam Schiff (CA)
He uploaded his weekly “In Case You Missed It”
This one is incredibly timely and is all about AP being kicked out of the White House press corp.
It’s timely because AP announced today that they are suing three members of the administration, Chief of Staff Susan Wiles, Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt for it.
As always the video is informative, engaging and simple to understand, it reminds me of the fireside chat idea, which is probably why it’s going viral every week.
So, as we all know, there were a lot of other, unrelated, wins today, but don’t think for a second that our Democrats weren’t busy.
I can’t wait to see what other stories you share in the comments!
Our voices are our superpowers, but only when we use them!
Sara Jacobs is my Rep and her media game is strong! She does cooking dinner videos too while she provides updates too. They're brilliant. I'm so grateful for her leadership and votes! I'm glad to see Schiff is contributing positive noise; several of his votes this year have been very disappointing.
