I thought this was going to be short, because I was focusing on the Tuesday elections all day. I was wrong, I still was able to compile a ton of stories.
So, without further ado, let’s begin!
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08)
He is doing the work no matter what you hear from anyone else.
He had his weekly press conference today. And he talked repeatedly about how Democrats just want “bipartisanship.” And if you just listen to the clips you see online, it sounds bad, but the thing is, as always, clips can be deceiving, and oh boy are they deceiving here.
He’s not saying Democrats are going to compromise. He’s saying “we want to work with Republicans, but they don’t want to help immigrants, workers, the middle class or anything else we care about, so, that’s on them”
It’s a brilliant tactic, and I wish more people would talk about it for what it actually is, and that those posting clips posted the ones that actually showcased the tactic the best. But sadly, we don’t live in that world. In this world people go viral for spreading negative disinformation…..sorry I started rambling for a second there.
And while we’re talking about Jeffries, You should also check out his interview on Jon Stewart’s podcast, The Weekly Show.
I know everyone posted when AOC was on, but I bet you didn’t know Jeffries was on yesterday, cause, I didn’t.
He explains exactly why we as constituents are so powerful, if we actually use our power, that is. It’s well worth a listen.
A group of Democrats in Congress went to the Department of Education demanding entry. They were blocked by armed and unarmed guards. For those who don’t know, this should be a building that is open to members of congress anytime they want to go. There are three videos, in particular, that I must highlight from this event.
Rep Gwen Moore (WI-04)
This second video is even more powerful, and it also includes Rep Greg Casar (TX-35). Moore truly is one of our best fighters, and if you’re not following her, that should really change immediately.
Rep Maxwell Frost (FL-10)
His video is worth a watch as well.
Rep Mike Thompson (CA-4)
He has a weekly series everyone should be aware of. It’s called Fact Check Friday. This week it concerns disinformation about how FEMA handled Hurricane Helene. I love that he doesn’t just focus on California.
The DNC
Yeah, I know, they’re not in the House or the Senate, but they started a new series that I must acknowledge
Before you ask, no I don’t think they stole it from me, or were even inspired by me. I doubt they even know I have this series. I’m just so glad to see I’m not the only one doing this. The more of us do this, the better. And now you have even more wins directly from the ass’s mouth, as it were.
And finally
Rep Hillary Scholten (MI-03), Rep Gerry Connolly (VA-11), Rep Dave Min (CA-47), and Rep Kweisi Mfume (MD-07)
They introduced the CLEAR Act. If it were to pass, it would hold Musk and his Freshman 15 accountable to the American taxpayer.
As always, it’s not likely to pass, but these bills are kind of building a dossier. They will help with elections, especially when it comes to opposition ads. They will help with court cases, and they are already helping with morale, which does matter to get people to continue fighting. And who knows, maybe Republicans will actually grow a backbone and the bill can be passed.
As always, I hope this post showed you that no matter what you’re hearing the Dems are, in fact, doing the work. And remember that every call you make, every protest you attend and every office you visit makes our fighters stronger.
