Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 58

Well, it is certainly been a day, and our Democrats have been fighting back as hard as ever. I promise you you could look up any Democrat right now and see incredible work that they have done today, but, I’m only able to amplify a few.

Also it has come to my attention that not everyone knows that if something is underlined, that means it’s a link. I would love for it to be a different color, but I am inept when it comes to understanding this platform, so if anyone wants to help me with that, I would be eternally grateful!

Repping the Rep: Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10)

Is hosting a video town hall tomorrow at 3pm. This is the first town hall I’ve heard about since In District Work Period (Recess) ended on Sunday.

As of right now it will only be livestreamed on FB (though you can absolutely watch even if you don’t have an account, but hopefully he’ll add YouTube too.

And use the comment section of his post below to ask any questions you might have for him to answer in the town hall.

Gave today’s Democratic Daily Download. It is of course about Signal Gate. He says a couple things I didn’t know, like there is a very clear rule that Signal cannot be used for anything involving our defense, classified or not. I also love that he said that Dems aren’t waiting for Republicans to get on board. Hopefully you’ll find something you love from this too!

Rep Chellie Pingree (ME-01)

Just wrapped up her telephone town hall with Maine AG, Aaron Frey. The coolest part is that she did live updates on Blue Sky, so even if you couldn’t attend, you could read along to the Q&A as it was happening.

I’m guessing she’s not the first one to do this, but she’s certainly the first one I’ve ever seen.

Rep Jared Huffman (CA-02)

Launched a new series today called “The Flip Side” where he shows a maddening Republican created situation and a Democratic situation happening at the same time that actually helps improve our lives.

I cannot tell you how excited I am for this. I hope you are too!

Rep Robert Garcia (CA-42)

Is headed to Young Kim’s CA-40 district to host an empty chair town hall since she won’t show up. Garcia is just the most recent in a very long list of Dems showing up when Republicans won’t.

Garcia has been teasing this event for a few weeks now, so I’m really excited he’s finally announced it. The town hall is next Saturday, but it’s going to fill up fast, so make sure to sign up as soon as you can! You can sign up on Mobilize.

Reps Jared Moskowitz (FL-23) and Jamie Raskin (MD-08)

Used the humor tactic for shaming someone today. In a Judicial markup, Moskowitz started making fun of the emoji thread used in Signal Gate. He and Raskin did several back and forths and you can just hear Sydney Kamlager Dove cracking up sitting next to Moskowitz.

This exchange belongs on SNL, and if it doesn’t get the attention of mainstream media, I will be heartbroken.

Sen Jon Ossoff (GA)

Spoke to the National Security team as if they were children in detention. That’s the best way I have to put it.

And what they did was so utterly stupid that there’s really no other way to talk to them.

I hope we continue hearing about this interrogation for a very long time to come, cause it is a masterclass.

So those are just a very small handful of our Dems doing the work today. As always, please comment on their posts we have to drown out the people who are screaming that they’re doing nothing.
