Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 3

Together we can end the disinformation that Dems aren't doing anything

Today was an incredible day. Our Senate Dems in the Senate Finance Committee really hit it out of the park.

And there were many fighters that weren’t even in that hearing that I have to highlight too. My greatest hope from this series is that it makes you feel less alone, and, you know, stops the spread of disinformation.

Alright, let’s get to it.

He’s not mincing words in a thread from this morning

VA Sen. Tim Kaine

He completely eviscerated DT and his attempt to scam federal workers into resigning. Saying that the US doesn’t even have the budget to pay those who aren’t working for 7 months. He discusses a wide range of things in this video, but the part about federal works starts at 7:43

MA Sen. Elizabeth Warren

She gave a full rundown of exactly what happened with the measles outbreak in Samoa and then asked RFK Jr. if he’d admit to his involvement.

So my question is, do you accept even a scintilla, just even a sliver of responsibility for the drop in vaccinations and the subsequent deaths of more than 70 people? Anything you’d do differently?

GA Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock

This morning, before the hearing even began, RFK Jr.’s former running mate, Nicole Shanahan threatened to primary any senator, who she raised money for, who votes against RFK Jr.’s nomination. She takes credit for electing Sen Warnock.

At the hearing, Sen Warnock didn’t seem to care a bit. He accused RFK Jr. of comparing the CDC to Nazi death camps, and when RFK Jr lied, he read the quotes out loud.

Then he got on Twitter and announced he was voting no on RFK Jr.’s nomination. Shanahan vowed to primary him, so we have a fight ahead of us, but it’s not like Democratic voters would fall for her primary attempts anyway.

RI Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse

Sen Whitehouse and RFK Jr. have known each other since lawschool. And because of that history, they’re still good friends.

But he put the safety of the American people above his friendship, and in the first few seconds of his questioning, told his friend “and frankly, you frighten people.”

You can just see how close he is to breaking down over having to talk to his friend like this, but he cares about our safety, so he doesn’t think he has a choice.

VA Sen Mark Warner

He released a 26 minute video on his thoughts on the first nine days. I don’t know of any other Senator or member of congress doing that, other than maybe AOC and her lives. The video begins with “he has introduced chaos at a level that even makes the first term look organized”

So, there you have it, today’s fighters. I can promise you there are so many incredible Democrats I missed, especially because I only focused on US House and Senate. Imagine how long this would be if I also included state and local leaders.

There’s a lot more work to do, and like everyone else, there are definitely things I hope will change in how certain Democrats are fighting, but we are in much better hands than most people would have you believe.
