DAILY DEMS DOING THE WORK, MAKING NOISE, AND FIGHTING BACK Day 66
I’m worried people are gonna start comparing all our Dems to @senbooker and if it doesn’t measure up, it’s not worth acknowledging
So let’s be cognizant of that and amplify all of our fighters because the more we amplify them, the more they will be inspired to do extraordinary things
ICYMI (In Case You Missed It)
Repping the Rep: Kathy Castor (FL-14)
Posted a list of many of the things that DT and EM have done to destroy our country that sound like should be April fools jokes, but obviously aren’t.
It’s not like we don’t know all these things, but there’s something to be said for seeing them all in a list like this one after another.
Rep Rosa DeLauro (CT-03)
Received in response to an email asking why they removed transparency from their website.
She took that letter and rewrote it in the style of the “fixed it for you” meme, showing how many lies were in the letter she received. Unfortunately, the Dems on the House Appropriations committee only posted this on one Blue Sky account and in a press release. Luckily I saw it, so now you can too!
I really wish our Dems would cross post everywhere for everything. It would make my job so much easier and help spread the incredibly creative ways they are fighting back.
Rep Pocan
Posted this video the vote on the SAVE act was pushed to, at least, next week after Johnson threw a hissy fit and shut the House down till Monday. But that doesn’t mean his video isn’t absolutely flawless and worth a watch right now.
He really breaks down why the SAVE act is so dangerous, and while it’s not going to get the 60 votes it would need to pass the Senate, it’s very worth knowing more about as it probably comes to a Republican state legislature near you. (Good thing we have elections all year long to hopefully stop some of that movement before it even starts)
Also yesterday…
Rep Joe Neguse (CO-02)
Joe Neguse questioned former Speaker Newt Gingrich (never thought I’d have to talk about him) during the House Judiciary Committee Hearing about the Republican attempt to diminish judicial powers.
Neguse is good at a lot of things, but he’s the very best at making Republicans dig very deep holes. And this video is the absolute perfect example of one of the deepest.
If you want to watch more of Neguse’s interrogation or any other of our reps, this is the full hearing. I have it set to start at the beginning of Neguse’s questioning, but you can find whatever other Reps you might want to watch as well:
Sen Ruben Gallego (AZ)
Announced that he is blocking all VA nominees until the VA gets its funding and employees back.
This is the second of many many blocks on nominees we will start seeing from our Dems. It’s not something that can be done for cabinet appointments but it’s fair game for pretty much everything else, and that everything else starts now.
And finally, we have the two pettiest, but arguably most important bills introduced…
Sens Andy Kim (NJ), Chuck Schumer (NY) and Adam Schiff (CA)
Are introducing a bill that would require security training for anyone with high security clearance. They’d learn things like how you can’t use Signal or Gmail to conduct top secret conversations.
Second…
Rep Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11)
Introduced a bill that would force EM and his merry gang of fascists to pass a drug test to stay in their jobs in the admin.
And those are just a handful of today’s fighters. I really hope you don’t feel like this is less than because of what happened yesterday.
If you made it to the end of this post comment with ✍️ they don’t have a red pen, but close enough.
Our voices are superpower, but only when we use them!
✍🏼. Love those petty bills!
