This should go without saying, but I’m gonna say it anyway.
Make sure you follow everyone I post about in this list. Subscribe to their YouTube channels, follow them on Blue Sky, Threads, IG, TikTok, anywhere they have accounts, and interact with their posts, or at least the ones I include.
That’s the way we spread them. That’s the way we get the message out.
Let’s begin
Sen Chris Van Hollen (MD)
Spoke at the National Treasury Employees Unionrally today. You probably didn’t know about it, because, unfortunately, it wasn’t live-streamed. However, Chris not only attended, and spoke, but he did so in the rain. And of course, he posted a video of his comments, because, that’s just what he does.
Rep Jamie Raskin (MD-08)
Held another one of his emergency webinars. This one was on the impact of the potential deep cuts to Medicaid. He was joined by both health practitioners and Medicaid recipients.
This is I believe the fourth emergency webinar in this series. I think this series is so important, I wish more people knew about it!
Today there were two press conferences from the Democrats.
House Dem Leadership + Reps Paul Tonko (NY-20), Joe Neguse (CO-02)
The first was the “Protect our Veterans” press conference with speeches by Democratic House leadership Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) , Katherine Clark (MA-05), Ted Leiu (CA-36) and Pete Aguilar (CA-33), but the real stars were the vets who spoke. If you only listen to a few minutes of it, make it one of their speeches. They are well worth your time to watch.
Sens Chuck Schumer (NY), Bernie Sanders (VT), and Patty Murray (WA) and Rep Clark
The second press conference was reintroducing the PRO act or the “Protecting the Right to Organize Act”
But here’s the problem…
This is Bernie’s YouTube video. Every single comment is glowing. And there are over 10,000 views, which is great!
And this is Schumer’s post on the exact same video the exact same legislation. Not a single comment is kind most are downright hateful
And this is the Senate Dems video on YouTube of the exact same press conference. It has less than 500 views.
People scream Do Something at Schumer, but not Bernie and they won’t even bother watching the video when the Senate Democrats put it out.
This is why I have this series, to change this situation.
Sens Jon Ossoff (GA), Van Hollen, Chris Coons (DE) and Brian Schatz (HI)
Announced they are the opposition to the Guantanamo Bay plan back on Feb 28, with Ossoff heading the group. Well, today, NBC reported that according to their sources, DT is “rethinking” the Guantanamo Bay plan, which makes me think that these guys had something to do with it.
If this is the case, this is the second time in a week that Ossoff has headed up something that has actually convinced the Admin to reverse course or rethink their actions. The first being reinstating the HBCU agriculture scholarship program.
It’s certainly a strong endorsement of Ossoff’s negotiation skills.
Rep Sean Casten (IL-06)
Has written a letter to Bezos asking for specifics on what his new rules for op-eds actually mean. He’s sarcastic and plays into the absurdity of the whole situation, so please take the time to read the whole letter. He absolutely won’t get a response, but I’m so glad he wrote this letter. If he’s not on your radar yet, I’m glad he is now.
Sen Tim Kaine (VA)
Is introducing a challenge in the Senate to DT’s tariffs. He knows it won’t pass, but it will put all Republican senators on the record supporting raising costs for their constituents, which is unpopular across the board.
He is also waiting to do it until later in March so the tariffs have already fully taken effect and it will have the most power.
This puts Republicans on record as intentionally and knowingly raising prices, and this will help when elections come around, if not sooner.
I think it would be brilliant if, after doing this, Kaine traveled the country and went to states with R Senators and let their constituents know that they literally just voted in favor of your cost of living skyrocketing.
Please follow these electeds and lift up their voices! It can’t happen without us! Don’t like this post, like their post too, and comment on them and share them and quote them!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Thanks for highlighting the relative lack of viewership and the negative reception. Why isn’t there a centralized daily summary— which is what you’re doing?
This is encouraging - which is why I subscribed to your Substack. I had no idea any if this was going on! That’s not to say we needn’t do even MORE. We need to amplify all of this in whatever ways we can.
