If you’ve been here for a while, you know that I have been singing Sen Chris Van Hollen’s (MD) praises since I started this series. So I’m curious, which fighter do you think is going to start getting the recognition they deserve next?
Here are some of today’s fights. Maybe it will be one of them.
Today is the final day for
Repping the Rep: Terri Sewell (AL-07)
I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know her throughout the week. She will hold a community conversation, which is what she calls a town hall, on April 23, specifically on the federal cuts. According to Black Belt News Network, she “will be joined by Lowndes County Superintendent, Samita Jeter, Health Services Inc. CEO, Gilbert F. Darrington, Heart of Alabama Food Bank CEO, Michael Coleman, and representatives from the South Central Alabama Development Commission.”
Rep Troy Carter (LA-02)
Has started a new podcast called “What Makes America Tick.” His first guests are the leadership of Essence Fest. And they discuss the power of Black women, among other things. Definitely a vital topic right now.
The first episode is about 45 minutes long, but I highly recommend checking it out! And I just have to say, his voice is perfect for podcasting.

Reps Maxwell Frost (FL-10) and Jim McGovern (MA-02)
Have today’s WTFShow. They discussed a lot of things but two of the big ones are El Salvador and the power of us, the people. I mean it’s exactly the kind of conversation you expect when Frost is involved. This is definitely an important one to check out even if you can’t watch the full 20 minutes.
Rep Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10)
Had a town hall specifically about immigration. I got a few comments on the post where I included his announcement of this event that were a bit concerned this could end up being dangerous. So I wanted to follow up.
The event went off without a hitch and included things like him saying he is absolutely ready and willing to go down to El Salvador. He did interviews with three separate local news stations so you can check those out as well, below.
Rep Greg Landsman (OH-01)
Has today’s Democratic Daily Download. And I honestly think this is the best one yet. He explains the proposed Republican budget cuts using props and even gives us a call to action at the end. It’s so engaging it’s almost gone moderately viral, which cannot be said for any previous episodes (for a positive reason, at least). I mean, I found a total of one negative comment. I hope the House Dems see the positive response and continue with this formatting!
Rep Jamie Raskin (MD-08)
Wrote an article on House Judiciary Dems website explaining exactly how stupid it would for the Admin to invoke the Insurrection Act. Even though we now know that’s not what Hegseth and Noem are recommending, I still still think it’s a great piece that will calm you down significantly.
Sen Tammy Duckworth (IL)
Went on The Daily Show. She really goes into detail about the VA and what’s happening to it and what it looked like before this mess and why it’s so important.
You can watch the full interview below
And of course, I can’t leave out
Sen Chris Van Hollen (MD)
And his incredible press conference at Dulles airport. He explains the situation in El Salvador so clearly and with a lot of new info, like how much the US is paying to keep those they’ve abducted in the prisons and that Kilmar Abrego Garcia isn’t even at CECOT anymore. And, of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the fact that this is his YouTube account. He posts every single time he opens his mouth and that isn’t a new development. It’s incredible.
Please don’t forget that this is just a small sample of the amount of Dems fighting back.
If you made it to the end of this post, comments 🪙(coin) cause that’s how much money most of these programs will have if Republicans get their way
Our voices are superpower, but only when we use them
