Are you tired of the “Do Something” crowd? I am.
If you want to push back against the narrative that Democrats aren’t doing anything, I hope this thread helps!
And if you have stories I missed please put them in the comments!
Rep Veronica Escobar (TX-16)
Put out a YouTube video explaining exactly what’s happening with the budget vote tomorrow and our role in not letting Republicans win.
Please call your Rep! If they are a Democrat, make sure they are voting against it, and if they are a Republican, do everything you can to convince them to vote against it.
If we are loud enough, they can’t win!
Rep Nikema Williams (GA-05)
Post about the press conference from the Congressional Public Housing Caucus is the only way I even knew there was a press conference. I am so glad she posted about it, but it seems like she’s the only one who did. Now we need to make sure every press conference gets filmed and live-streamed and posted in as many places as possible!
Sen Elissa Slotkin (MI)
Held a round table in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, which is usually overlooked. She spoke with local business owners, economic developers and union leaders asking what their needs are to build up the UP. There is not a part of a state that should or can be ignored, and it’s really great to see that she knows that and is walking the talk on that this early in her first term.
Sen Gary Peters (MI)
And speaking of the UP Senator Gary Peters has put a considerable amount of effort into saving the Iron Mountain USPS facility, Today that effort officially paid off. Now, DT is still trying to privatize the Postal Service, but this is still a win regardless.
It’s important to see that there are a lot of things that our electeds are focusing on all the time, and some of them help the whole country and some of them are for a single area of their states to make lives a little better. And every single way lives can be made better matters.
Rep Mike Levin (CA-49)
Posted a phenomenal video, with a blackboard, about DOGE and what the acronym really stands for, which is Destruction Of Government by Elon. Both the acronym and the video are very clever.
DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta
Spoke at the Pennsylvania press club and the YouTube video of the speech, which you can see quotes from at the above account, has no views.
And you can’t say they didn’t promote it, cause his rapid response page was posting quotes from it all day.
Here is one of my favorites:
I implore you to at least watch some of it. It’s a pretty fantastic speech.
Rep Mark Pocan (WI-02)
Has a Monday series called “Magic Monday” where he explains something going on through a magic trick.
In this episode he explained how DT wants us to think that everything is so complicated and it’s too much work to do the right thing. This is not true and we need to push back against this narrative and spread it as far as we can.
Sen Chris Murphy (CT)
Wrote an op-ed for Fox News breaking down exactly what DT has done and what he will continue to do to destroy the American worker. I don’t know if it will change any hearts or minds, but I do know you can’t change any hearts and minds if they never see what you have to say in the first place.
Sen Bernie Sanders wrote a joint editorial with Josh Hawley about their bill to cap credit card interest a few weeks ago, but Murphy’s op-ed is the first I know of, at least since the new Admin took over written entirely by a Dem lawmaker.
Sen Tina Smith (MN)
Is taking every opportunity she has to hit back at Republicans. I know everyone saw what she said about EM, but you might not have seen what she said about Fox News.
I hope she takes this new not giving a shit attitude and goes on the network and says it to their face.
So don’t let anyone tell you our fighters aren’t fighting.
We have to be unified if we wanna fight this effectively, and screaming that the Dems are doing nothing is the opposite of unifying us.
Our voices are superpower, but when we use them!
