Whether you’re celebrating this July 4, or actively choosing not to, I hope you’re getting some much-needed rest. Everything feels a little slower today, which is very necessary after the last 50+ hours.
But we still have Dems fighting back.
So here are some of them
Today is the last day of…
Repping the Rep: Wesley Bell (MO-01)
Most Democrats posted some sort of message for The Fourth, this is his.
Today we celebrate America’s promise—But we don’t ignore it’s unfinished work. Freedom means justice, opportunity, and dignity for everyone.

Rep Marcy Kaptur (OH-09)
Posted a list of union-made items you can get for your Fourth of July celebration. You might not wanna celebrate, but for some people it’s cathartic to do so, and it’s great that it’s easy to find items made by our labor movement members.

Rep (LA-02)
Is hosting a town hall in New Orleans next Thurs with members of the House Dem Steering and Policy Committee: Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), Robin Kelly (IL-02), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) and Nanette Barragán (CA-44).
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again, OUR DEMOCRATS ARE SHOWING UP IN THE SOUTH.
If you’re in New Orleans, RSVP!

Rep Morgan McGarvey (KY-03)
Shared some hope during his speech at a Fourth of July parade this morning. “Recognize that this is the exact moment we cannot give up.”

Sen Martin Heinrich (NM)
Told the story of his family’s American dream. I think a lot of people assume that members of Congress come from wealth and cushy upbringings, but Heinrich’s story isn’t so uncommon.

Rep Jill Tokuda (HI-02)
Explains what it takes for her to fight for her constituents going to and from Hawai’i during a week like this one.
And as Rep Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03) says in the comments, let’s give all our Democratic schedulers their flowers for making sure our Dems made the votes.
Rep Lori Trahan (MA-03)
Posted a phenomenal, and very detailed, fact check of the rhetoric DT was going to spew today as he signed what is now, unfortunately, the big ugly law.

And finally…
Rep (NY-15)
Announced last night on The Briefing with Jen Psaki that he is drafting a resolution to condemn Andy Ogles for his racism directed at Rep Jeffries and Islamophobia directed at Zohran Mamdani, who, by the way, he has started having meetings with.
You can watch the full interview below.
So those are just a handful of today’s fighters, cause even on a day when most people aren’t working, they still are.
If you made it to the end of this post, comment with 🇺🇸 if only you could flip an emoji upside down.
And if you watched or read any other posts, comment with what you learned and 🌺 (hibiscus flower,) cause it’s incredible how hard our reps had to work to make sure they made that vote
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Blessings for hard times:
Strengthen us, Holy One, on our journey.
Bless the Holy One who gives strength to the weary.
Time to get to work.
🇺🇸 Thank you and please keep up your excellent work!
