We’re not okay today.
Today was not a good day. Today was a hard day. But even today, on the worst day so far, it feels like, we had Democrats standing up for what’s right and fighting back.
Most of our Dems have released public statements supporting Ukraine and Zelenskyy today.
And there are too many to put here. Our fighters are fighting.
Here are some of today’s:
Rep Jimmy Gomez (CA-34)
Many Democrats post a “what I did this week” in some capacity. But I really to shout out Jimmy Gomez because he did his in video form and it is really fabulous. He shows his actions, his speeches, and his media appearances.
Senators Jon Ossoff (GA), Chris Coons (DE), Brian Schatz (HI) and Chris Van Hollen (MD)
are leading the opposition against the migrant detention in Guantánamo Bay.
Yes, I know this is a letter, but if you recall, Ossoff’s letter earlier this week resumed funding for the HBCU agriculture scholarship program. So whatever he did there I hope he’s doing it again here.
Rep Dave Min (CA-45)
Chris Kluwe was just fired from his job as a high school football coach in Huntington Beach after getting arrested for speaking out against MAGA at the City Council meeting.
Dave Min sent a letter to the superintendent of the school district today asking them to explain, in detail, why he was fired. The school district probably won’t listen, but the letter was also sent to the California government, and that won’t go so well for them.
Rep Joaquin Castro (TX-20)
A week ago an 11-year-old committed suicide because of bullying from her classmates that included threats of ICE deporting her family.
Joaquin Castro posted today that he has had three separate calls with the superintendents of the school districts to ensure this kind of bullying never happens again in his district.
DNC
Have been putting out daily and weekly snapshots of what Democrats across the country have been doing. These have included between five and seven bullet points.
Well, today is the last day of February, and they put out a master list of some of the things that Democrats did this month.
It’s so important to see one after another what has been done specifically. Especially things we might forget from earlier in the month.
Sen Ron Wyden (OR)
Will not be attending the State of the Union, instead, he will be hosting a town hall on Facebook, and he is asking for questions in advance. I wish it wasn’t on Facebook, because a lot of his constituents aren’t there, but he is definitely on the right track.
Sen Chris Murphy (CT), Brian Schatz (HI), Angela Alsobrooks (MD) and Ed Markey (MA)
Also won’t be there. They will be giving responses, in real time, along with a whole group of other fantastic politicians and journalists with Move On
Finally,
Sen Patty Murray (WA)
Posted another incredible video from a first person account of a fired federal worker in her district. This is Sam, he was a park ranger.
This is just a small fraction of what our Dems were doing today.
We are not alone. We have incredible fighters fighting with and for us every step of the way.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Well, I’m very happy with what senator Wyden is doing. Sadly, none of his phones are open for public comment. I had to call Senator Merkley from Oregon and tell them that Wyden needs to turn on his phone and his voicemail.
