I had an extremely busy day, but hopefully, you still enjoy today’s post, even though it’s a little shorter than the last few days!
Please remember to share all of the information below, especially the posts themselves, as well as like, comment, repost etc so that our Dems can get the credit they deserve!
Rep Mike Levin (CA-49)
Shared another episode of “Constituent Stories” today. This story is from the President and CEO of Alzheimer’s Orange Country and how they’ll be impacted if the proposed cuts to Medicaid take effect.
I think it’s not only important for these stories to be shared by reps like Mike, but also to go viral. Part of our path to saving Democracy comes from building a large enough mobilized coalition that lead to Republican electeds having to make a choice. Either they risk getting primaried by DT or they are guaranteed to lose their seat by their constituents, and at that point, the constituents matter more. But to get there we have to change hearts and minds. Stories like this one do just that.
House Budget Committee Dems
Just released the most incredible interactive webpage. You go to Republican Rip Off and you scroll to the bottom of the page and put in your congressional district, or any congressional district.
As an example, I put in CA-42, cause we all love Robert Garcia.
And they tell you how many people on the ACA will have their premiums increased in your district under the Republican plan.
How many people are on Medicaid, and could lose their health insurance altogether
And how many people count on SNAP to eat and could lose their ability to put food on the table
I am completely blown away by this tool. The Dems on the House Budget Committee deserve a huge round of applause for this one, but it only matters if it is seen and used by as many people as possible.
Rep Sydney Kamlager Dove (CA-37)
Enlisted the help of her fellow judiciary committee Dems, Becca Balint (VT), Hank Johnson (GA-04), Deborah Ross (NC-02), and Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05) for this week’s “Is This Sh*t Legal.”
I love how she’s not afraid to swear, we need that kind of energy right now more than ever. I also love how she included people who we don’t typically see posting videos (other than Becca, who is flawless on social media.)
Not every Dem is tech savvy, so it’s important for the ones who are to include the ones who aren’t as much as possible.
My one gripe is that I really want Dems to stop using Harry Potter references. It would send a powerful message to the Trans community that we love and support them.
Sen Jon Ossoff (GA)
Went on KISS 104.1 FM , Atlanta’s R&B, to talk to Toni and Tony about how Republicans want to give tax cuts to billionaires by cutting Medicaid, and how he helped protect the funding of the HBCU agriculture scholarship program.
I love this A LOT. It’s so important to be in all the spaces constituents are in, whether they are typically political or not. Politics is now just about us being able to live our lives safely, and that matters everywhere.
Senate Dems
All voted, yes, including Fetterman, against cloture (in this context that means ending debate) for the nomination of Linda McMahon for Sec of Education.
It matters when all our Senate Dems are unified on something. We need to recognize those moments and thank all our Democrats for doing so, to ensure they keep doing so again and again.
Sen Ed Markey (MA)
Introduced the “No Cuts To Public Schools Act” on the same day that all Dems voted against cloture on Linda McMahon, and that’s not a coincidence. There is a real fear that she will try to destroy public schools, which, will definitely not go over well with the vast majority of Americans, Republicans and Democrats alike, so it’s very important for a bill like this to be on the books.
This means that when we start organizing against whatever awful outcome happens, we have the physical bill to prove which side we are on and what we stand for, and maybe this will be the last straw for some people to start organizing who weren’t there before.
And finally,
DNC Chair Ken Martin
Spoke with farmers in Missouri on the first leg of his “Organizing Everywhere” Tour. I love Will’s straight talk explaining how DT doesn’t have a clue what farmers need.
The video also gives us a glimpse into what Ken’s message was when speaking with these farmers, many of whom did vote for DT.
This is EXACTLY what we need right now, and I can’t wait for the next leg of this incredibly crucial tour.
As always, I hope this reminded you that the Dems are doing the work every single day.
And we have a lot of incredible fighters we need to be lifting up.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
