Another day of massive massive stories that have not gotten the attention they deserve. This shouldn’t keep happening. Many of these story should be the biggest story of the day and they’re just not.
Sen Ed Markey (MA) and Reps Jim McGovern (MA-02), Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), Bennie Thompson (MS-02) and Troy Carter (LA-02)
re in Louisiana to visit the detention facility that many of those taken by ICE are being held in. They got to speak with both Mahmoud Khalil and Rümeysa Öztürk. After these conversations, they held a press conference outside the facility.
This video, as of right now, has just over 1k views, I’m sure that will go up before I post this, but it’s not getting nearly the attention it should.
It’s important to note that this should not be seen as less important than those going to El Salvador, it’s all equally as important. We have to be advocating for those abducted who are still on American soil as well as those who aren’t.
Rep Sydney Kamlager Dove (CA-37)
Has today’s Democratic Daily Download
This episode is all about housing prices, and especially the devastation that DTs temper tariffs are causing in places like LA, which has to rebuild after the fires. These tariffs are gonna make it that much harder for many to rebuild. You know how I feel about Kamlager Dove, so you can guess how I feel about this video. Everything she does is flawless.
Rep Chris Deluzio (PA-17)
Shared a win from Reserve Township PA. Thanks to the bipartisan infrastructure law, they got $50,000 federal grant to help modernize their government and the technology needed to run it.
It’s really important to know that there are still some things Biden set in motion that are happening. It’s easy to think all of his work has been reversed, but there are little pockets that are still absolutely benefiting from the things he did.
The Senate Banking Dems
Have a new Substack post where they’re breaking down everything you need to know about the tariffs in as easily digestible pieces as possible.
This is their second article on Substack, and I think it’s so brilliant. Not everything needs to be broken down like this for the average person to understand, but everything involving finance certainly does.
So if you have any confusion about anything tariff, this is a must read.
And speaking of Substack,
DNC
Also have a newsletter. It’s called The Blue Print and today’s post breaks down Ken Martin’s organizing vision. So if you wanna know what the DNC is doing especially when it comes to organizing an elections and competing everywhere, this is a must read
Sen Patty Murray (WA)
Had a very busy day.
First, she went to the NOAA Seattle facility and learned what they’re doing, what their concerns are and what might be done to their work. I hope to hear more about all these things from her in the future.
And then she tried to set up a round table at the Puget Sound VA and she was denied. She has never been denied in the past. She didn’t think she’d ever be denied in the future, but just like Social Security did it sounds like the VA is shutting its doors to any sort of oversight.
I’m sure she will still hold the round table in some other way, so stay tuned. The funny thing is if they had just let her have the round table it would just be another thing our Dems are doing that gets very little coverage but hopefully helps them do their jobs better.
But now, this will be a massive big deal and everyone will be watching.
And finally we have two stories from….
Team El Salvador: Reps Maxine Dexter (OR-03), Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03), Maxwell Frost (FL-10) and Robert Garcia (CA-42)
First, earlier today they were on CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown. Some things they said we knew, some things were new information. It was just good to hear them all talking together and amplifying their message.
Unfortunately, it’s not on YouTube, but you can watch it on the CNN website.
Second, it worked. Their trip had an impact.
Because of the trip and because of their conversations with the US Embassy in El Salvador, the Embassy has finally started asking questions about what has happened to the Venezuelans who were abducted.
Both their trip and Sen Chris Van Hollen’s (MD) has moved the needle in massive ways. These are not a waste of time, these are not for vanity, they are for having an impact, AND THEY DO.
The next group headed down will probably be members of the Hispanic Caucus. I can’t wait to see what they push for. Our Dems have so little power, but they are squeezing out every last drop.
So those are some of our fighters today. Keep in mind that I post this on substack as well but there I don’t have a character limit so if you want more detail, you can always find it there.
If you made it to the end, comment 🇻🇪 (the Venezuela flag) because I cannot overstate how big a deal it is that they got the Embassy to start asking questions.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them
🇻🇪 Amazing that their pressure is moving the needle. Let’s keep moving that needle.
🇻🇪 These are all great. So glad the pressure is working.
