You might think, oh, it’s a holiday weekend. There’s no way anyone’s doing anything today. You would be wrong. Our fighters are still fighting even today.
And here are some of them.
Repping the Rep: Grace Meng (NY-06)
Went to the Elmcor Senior Center and spoke about Social Security on Tuesday’s Social Security day of action. I think this is one of the best explanations, especially for someone who doesn’t really understand it. Getting rid of Social Security is quite literally stealing our money.
Rep Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (FL-23)
Has opened a texting hotline for her constituents to tell their stories about Social Security.
If you live in her district, please tell your story. I know you might not realize it now, but these stories are vital to creating change.
And I love that this make it even more accessible to tell those stories, especially for people who have phones but not computers.
Rep Jared Huffman (CA-02)
Posted about how we need to change our language. We shouldn’t be calling what DT is doing “executive orders” because that would imply they are legal and they are absolutely not. Do you like his ideas? What term would you use?
Rep Ilhan Omar (MN-05)
Is having a town hall tomorrow with 12 state legislators. I assume these are all the Democrats who represent her district. I’ve seen a lot of town halls with a lot of different configurations of elected officials, but I think this is the most elected officials I’ve seen at any given one.
It feels like a really important acknowledgement of “I’m not the only one representing you and we are all fighting to make your lives better” and I love that.
Rep Maxwell Frost (FL-10)
And Rep Robert Garcia (CA-42) received a reply from James Comer about their request for a congressional oversight trip to El Salvador. The answer is no. But, as Frost says, he doesn’t need Comer’s permission to get on a plane.
I’m sure we’ll get more info in the coming days, but it sounds like Frost will be headed down to El Salvador soon.
Also…what the fuck is that human trafficking line????
Sen Reverand Raphael Warnock (GA)
Shared what Easter means to him. He articulates the power of the holiday for him so well. While Christianity is being distorted, it’s powerful to hear from someone who honors it with everything he has.
As a Jew, who knows so little about Easter, this was incredibly powerful for me. Especially to see how hope is at the center of both our holidays.
Sen Adam Schiff (CA)
Posts a lot of bad news on his YouTube. He explains things we might not fully understand and that makes them even scarier than we thought. But today he’s focusing on hope. He’s focusing on what brings him hope, where he finds it and how he keeps it.
If you’re someone who hasn’t watched any of his videos because you’re scared of learning something new and being even more traumatized, you don’t have to avoid this one. This one should make your day better, I hope so, anyway.
And finally…
Sen Chris Van Hollen (MD)
Did the entire news circuit today, including Fox News. He won’t let them change the subject or misunderstand for anything, and that’s one of the powers we have by going on Fox. We can tell the truth, and it’s probably one of their first times hearing it.
And one of the coolest things is that people are in the comment section of this video, correcting the misinformation.
This is why showing up everywhere matters.
And those are just a handful of today’s fighters!
If you’re reading this, comment with 🥚 (egg) cause its the last day of Pesach and it’s Easter, and our fighters are still fighting
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
