Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise, and Fighting Back Day 108
The Ways and Means Committee Hearing lasted 18 hours and ended at 8 AM this morning.
The Energy and Commerce Committee Hearing lasted 26 hours and 30 minutes ending at around 4 PM
And the Agriculture Commitee is still going strong and what we’re gonna focus on today, because it started after I got all my posts together yesterday.

Repping the Rep John Garamendi (CA-08)
Is first as always. He posted about how these Medicaid cuts will affect Kevin Kylie’s district, his neighboring Republican. I mean it’s not like Kylie is gonna talk about his own district so it’s on our Dems to do it for the Republicans.
Now it’s about Agriculture, and we, of course begin with…
Rep Angie Craig (MN-02)
Who is the ranking member on the Agriculture Committee and has today is Democratic Daily Download. I know we’ve been focusing on Medicaid but SNAP is also on the chopping block which won’t only affect those that use the program but also the farmers that provide for it.

And as of right now, the hearing is still going strong so if you check this out quickly, you may still get to watch it live. They started at 7 PM last night, but they went on recess in the middle of the night, so it’s unclear how long they’ve been at it
Rep Jahana Hayes (CT-05)
Gave an impassioned speech about how children can can’t control their situation so your punishing them for something they have no control over. The republican idea is that the only people who should get SNAP benefits are those who are actively working or looking for work well the seven-year-old can’t do that.

Rep Sharice Davids (KS-03)
Talked about how her family lived paycheck to paycheck when she was growing up so she understands what it’s like to need these benefits and that everyone is worthy of them.

Rep Adam Gray (CA-13)
Brings a bit of humor by saying that based on what Republicans are saying, you’d think people are too well off instead of struggling to just survive.
It’s not the idea that’s humorous. It’s his delivery.

Rep Doris Matsui (CA-07)
Spoke on the attempt to defund Planned Parenthood which has kind of slipped under the radar. She told the story of her constituent, Novelyn, who discovered that she had breast cancer because of Planned Parenthood.

Rep Ted Lieu (CA-36)
And Rep Pete Aguilar (CA-33), Caucus Vice Chair and Chair respectively, held this week’s House Dem Caucus press conference. Lieu gave a blistering speech about how Republicans said they weren’t gonna cut Medicaid and now they have proved, over the course of over 26 hours, that they lied. This happened exactly how Dems said it would.

Ken Martin
Posted the ways that the DNC were involved in our Omaha Mayoral win last night. Win doesn’t feel strong enough, we absolutely creamed the Republicans. I hope people start to realize that the DNC truly is “organizing everywhere so that we can win anywhere.”

Rep Mark Pocan (WI-02)
Took part in another one of today’s hearings. This one was grilling RFK jr. And Pocan asked him point-blank if he would vaccinate his kids against the current and future pandemics.
The literal head of Health in this country basically said, yes, but I don’t know what I’m talking about.
