I just had someone tell me that only if every single Dem member of the House posts about the “Big Brutal Bill” at the same time, are they “doing something.” It sucks that so many people refuse to praise and encourage those doing the work because some reps aren’t.
Anyway, here are some of those doing the work today!
Repping the Rep: Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC Del.)
Sounded the alarm about requirements for helicopters near Reagan Airport being completely ignored in the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing last week.
The next day she sent a letter to Sec Duffy demanding these rules be followed. Given how warry people are about the letters, I do appreciate the this wasn’t even the first step, but rather the second step in what is likely to be a very long process.
Which is just really horrifying considering 67 people literally died as a result of this decision, or lack thereof.
Rep Mike Levin (CA-49)
Has today’s Democratic Daily Download. His episode is about how community health centers are at risk because of the big brutal bill.
I love how he’s doing this video at one of those health centers, which really drives home the point.

Rep Dave Min (CA-47)
Joined canvassers yesterday in Huntington Beach, California, to get out the vote for the June 10 elections for pro-library measures A and B.
One of my favorite things about Min is how involved he is in his district, and this is just another example.

Rep Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03)
Is a member of the Rules Committee and at 1 AM Wednesday morning, they will be voting to potentially send the “Big Brutal Bill” to the floor.
Rep Leger Fernandez words it perfectly in this video “They cannot wait for the sunrise before they’re going to suck the blood out of the American people.”
Wow.

Rep Laura Freidman (CA-30)
Posted this fantastic thread, explaining how the budget bill will strip judges of the ability to hold criminals in contempt in many cases.
There are so many horrific nuggets hiding in this bill and our electeds must expose as many of them as possible, and when they do, it’s our job to sound the alarm when we hear them.
Sen Dick Durbin (IL)
Staff went to two different ICE facilities and wrote a report about what they saw. This is absolutely not getting the kind of attention it deserves, so read and then amplify everywhere you possibly can.

And finally…
Rep Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08)
Posted the simplest, but most impactful, edit of the announcement of this big brutal bill. It really is this simple.
And those are some of today’s fighters. I really hope we can amplify their post so that people will stop saying that the Democrats aren’t doing anything. It doesn’t help anyone to say that.
If you made it to the end of this post comment with 📚(books) and if you know anyone who lives in Huntington Beach, make sure they know about the election on June 10
And if you watched or read any of the stories comment with 🌙 (moon) because it should not be in the sky when there is a committee vote
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
Just found this substack — thanks for helping make people aware that most elected Democrats are fighting this encroaching fascism, despite having no legislative power, and despite most media choosing to ignore them. 📚🌙
