Today was a day full of mis and disinformation. Remember, if there isn’t a source attached, don’t trust it. It’s more important to spread the most accurate information rather than the fastest.
Anyway, here are some of today’s fighters
Rep Maxwell Frost (Fl-10)
Has today’s Democratic Daily Download and it’s all about the DT tax increase and how it will affect most Americans who aren’t billionaires.
This is the third episode about the tariffs, so, each one will hopefully reach a different audience. Suzan Delbene’s was more about changing the language and making it as accessable as possible, Chris Deluzio focused on alternatives and got a bit more in the weeds, and Frost is appealing to the younger audience who might not get the importance but need to hear it from someone they look up to.
Comment below with which of the three spoke to you the most.
Rep Morgan McGarvey (KY-03)
Went on CNN to discuss tariffs. There are a lot of great moments in this interview, but McGarvey pulled out just one to post on his socials. He brings up the fact that if the admin must come up with excuses for why things will get better, that’s one thing, but, DT already did awful tariffs during the first term, and those are in the past, and no matter how much DT might want to, those facts can’t be rewritten.
Pamela Brown, the reporter, sounds a little befuddled with the fact that he made a point she can’t refute. Bravo to McGarvey for making Brown admit something it really seems like she didn’t want to.
Rep Scott Peters (CA-50)
Did a really phenomenal job explaining the reconciliation process and exactly how much of each committee’s budget is being slashed and what specifically that means.
This process could not be more complicated, and, since Republicans have both bodies of Congress as well as the Presidency, Democrats care, for the first time in this new social media world.
Many electeds have broken this down in various ways, and I applaud all of them for trying to put it as clearly and engagingly as possible, but, Peters really does have the best breakdown by far.
I am now able to totally refute the Republican message “We’re not cutting Medicaid, it’s not in the language of the bill.”

Sens Jack Reed (RI) and Elizabeth Warren (MA)
Wrote a letter to Chair Tim Scott signed by all Democrats on the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee demanding a public hearing on DT‘s tariff chaos. The letter reads:
Tariffs can be critical to grow American industry and promote good manufacturing jobs. But many of the President’s tariffs lack a coherent strategy, generating economic chaos and giving giant corporations an excuse to raise prices on Americans — which the President and his Administration have no plan to prevent. The President’s tariffs also raise concerns about whether he will repeat mistakes from his first term in handing out exceptions to well-connected friends or companies at the expense of everyone else.
Republicans are starting to sound the alarm about these tariffs too, so I do have some hope that we will actually see this hearing happen.
Reps Shontel Brown (OH-11) and Gerry Connolly (VA-11)
Are demanding an investigation into the White House, using Starlink and announcing they want to implement it in other departments as well. This is one of those stories. I didn’t know a single thing about, so I’m so glad they’re bringing attention to it.
And I love that Brown made a video explaining it. Usually, it’s a text post. A video just makes it seem that much more urgent and important. I hope this encourages others to follow suit.
DNC
Have officially launched their War Room. It will be helmed by political communications expert Tim Hogan, who is joining the DNC as Senior Advisor for Messaginging, Mobilization and Strategy. And, it will be a rapid response team for all things dis and misinformation. Hogan said:
Donald Trump and his cabinet of billionaires are tanking the economy, dismantling public education, driving up costs, attacking Social Security, and gutting health care to line the pockets of their wealthy friends all while MAGA Republicans in Congress cower and hide from their own constituents. The DNC War Room will aggressively scale its rapid response operation, innovate in the modern media and information ecosystem, and build on efforts to hold the Trump administration accountable. The country is in chaos. Americans are not onboard with an agenda that throws them under the bus to benefit the richest people in the world.
If you were on the latest National Update Call, you knew this was coming, if not this is probably a total surprise.
They are focusing on a six-pronged approach:
Grassroots and in person
Working directly with the influencer ecosystem
Infiltrating conservative and mixed media ecosystem
Daily Rapid Response for everything the Admin does and tries to do
Combatting dis and misinformation everywhere it exists
Putting Republicans on defense
Sen Brian Schatz (HI)
Is expanding his holds. It started with all state department nominees last month and has now expanded to over 300 nominees and several bipartisan foreign relations bills.
This means that when they ask for unanimous consent, he speaks up. By doing this, if they want to pass the bills and nominees they will have to do it all by a voice vote which takes a very long time, and it gets longer the more nominees that are blocked, and they’re not going to take the time to do so anytime soon.
This is good. This is what we’ve been asking for.
And finally…
Sen Adam Schiff (CA) and Rep Jamie Raskin (MD-08)
Held their shadow hearing called Exposing DT. There were influencers in the room, including
and , giving play-by-play and over 80,000 people watched live. If you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet that’s OK. It’s on YouTube.I love everything about this, from the fact that it happened at all, to the amount of work that they put in to make sure the most people knew about it possible. This gives me a lot of hope for future Democratic endeavors, and shows that they are really starting to understand the importance of new media, just like they promised.
And those are just some of our fighters today. Every day, they fight a little harder, a little more publicly and get a few more influencers to help out. And we need to make sure I amplify them and praise them and support them every time it happens.
If you made it this far, comment 🛰️ cause that Starlink thing was definitely new information to me.
Our voices are superpower, but only when we use them
Thank you, Ariella! I am so lucky to have Representative Brown as my Rep! My calls to her office are usually thank you calls. I appreciate you showing us all the hard work these Democrats are doing. Thank you!!
🛰 Love this part of the war room... "Working directly with the influencer ecosystem". Its about time! Emily Amick has been ringing this bell for a long time, because Republicans have been way more savvy about it for even longer.
