On Yom Hashoah (the sun hasn’t set here yet) it’s day 88. I’m just gonna decide that it’s dark humor, or else I’m gonna feel guilty for that too.
It’s been a day, and yes, that is entirely a result of my phone issues, if you’re a threads or IG follower, you can find me at demsdoingthework until further notice, hopefully it’s temporary.
Anyway, here are our fighters!
Repping the Rep: Grace Meng (NY-06)
Has today’s Democratic Daily Download all about the increasing cost of grocery prices and cuts to SNAP. I really like how more and more Member Of Congress are doing these kinds of videos while doing their own shopping. I think that makes it more impactful.
Rep Mark Takano (CA-39)
Posted an incredibly heartfelt video about the similarities between CECOT and his family in the Japanese internment camps. He also mentioned Andry Hernandez Romero by name, and of course Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Most people haven’t seen it because it’s on his campaign accounts, but I hope this brings a little attention to this powerful post.
Rep Dwight Evans (PA-03)
Shared a video of his constituent who needed Medicaid so she had coverage for her premature newborns. Most people hear Medicaid and think about the elderly or maybe the disabled, but it’s so important for pregnancy and new parents too. You’d think if DT wanted people to have more children he’d support Medicaid…
Rep Mike Levin (CA-49)
Posted a great video with a whiteboard explaining the Tijuana River Sewage Crisis, which I didn’t even know about before this video, so I’m really glad he’s bringing attention to it, I just hope this brings more eyes to the crisis.
Rep Linda Sachez (CA-38)
Went to the port of Los Angeles yesterday to learn more about how the tariffs are affecting them. I love that she was talking about the tariffs while standing directly where it all comes to a head. Making visual connections is really important in driving a point home.
Sen Ron Wyden (OR)
Is holding a town hall event in every single county in Oregon. There are 36 counties in Oregon and he is holding a town hall in every single one of them. He made a pledge to have an open to all town meeting, and he is delivering.
And finally, we have two stories from…
DNC
First, DNC Chair, Ken Martin has announced that the DNC will be upping their monthly investment in each state Democratic Party by $5000, and for red states it will be $10,000. This means the state Democratic parties can get better and do their work easier, something that has been especially difficult in states like Indiana or Louisiana, for instance.
This also means, when you donate to the DNC, this is where your money is going, so please, donate to the DNC.
And lastly, Martin announced that the DNC will not be getting involved in primaries. This is a direct reaction to what David Hogg is doing, and it should’ve always been this way. I mean, people constantly complain that primary don’t matter because the DNC chooses who they want. Well they’re putting it in their bylaws that they’re not doing that anymore. Isn’t that a good thing?
I hope by this time tomorrow, all of my Meta problems are resolved, but if you still use those platforms, make sure to follow me at demsdoingthework on IG and Threads (which will be useful to follow anyway cause the original purpose was a makeshift starter pack for all of our Dems on IG)
If you made it to the end of this post comment with 🧑🏿🍼(parent holding infant) because I think more people need to remember that part of Medicaid
Our voices are superpower, but only when we use them!
